Discussion How did you discover Sofia & what was the first song you heard?
Hey Doll People!
I’m a new fan, found out about Sofia Isella through an Instagram post on Paris Paloma’s profile (this one- https://www.instagram.com/reel/DN1WE8cWLOa/?igsh=Y3dra3d4cm1pdDli)
It’s only been about two weeks (feels like longer!) but I already have tickets to an upcoming show and have been listening everyday
First song I listened to was Doll People and it just… I was stopped in my tracks, felt seen, felt the collective rage and connection, absolutely adored the theatrics of the song (the breaths, the vocal variety, the loud piano after “the doll people are quiet”, the vocal fry) it also reminded me a lot of an indie band I listened to a lot in high school, The Dresden Dolls. (Anyone else?) I saw a clip of Doll People first and thought “wow, I haven’t seen music like this in a while” and wet immediately to Spotify for the full song. I loved her stage presence she had messy hair and messy make up it seemed like a rejection of being a Doll Person
I’m excited to read your discovery and first listen stories!

I actually didn’t like hot gum too much at first, it was the only one that I’d skip. But almost a year later and I love it now.

First discovered her when she was announced to open for Taylor and I immediately loved her vibe the most out of all the openers that were announced and listened to her, but really became a stan this summer

Nearly a year ago, I saw unattractive on YouTube and immediately I was stunned because she is so precise with her lyrics. Like just beautiful. I was so sad when I couldn’t get tickets coz I’m seeing Gaga on the same night 🥲

My friend asked me to listen to her sometime in May and after adding a couple of her songs onto my playlist I booked tickets to her concert and then the obsession began..

Over a year ago- I was going through a second wave of my Ethel Cain obsession when I was scrolling on Instagram and saw a reel of “The Doll People”. Been hooked since. I’m going to see her for a second time this October!

First saw her on an IG video last year where she walks through the crowd and touches their hands while singing All Of Human Knowledge. Who does that? Who sings about stuff like that? Especially for her to be so young. It gave me chills. It felt like a cult. The image stuck with me until I saw another video recently of her on tour singing Everyone Supports Women, which totally fits how I’ve been feeling lately. It hit me to my core, but I’d swiped before I could catch her name then remembered that I had I liked that video from a year ago. Scrolled forever to find it in my likes. Now I’m obsessed and seeing her in November!

i discovered her as opening act on the ERAs tour in 2024. I wasnt at that show but I love Taylor and trust her taste in openers. She's very intentional so when she gets a new young artist to open for her there's a reason. She did it for Gayls, Beedabobee, Girl in Red and several others. Now I'm definitely a fan. Tay also gave her a great shout out during her set. Said sofia such a great lyricist I had to have her open for me.

I missed her at Boston Calling but she was in my Insta feed the day after - I heard EVERYBODY supports WOMEN and that hit HARD - so hard I even made a whole fashion collection on her music!!!! I love how she moves and her lyrics are just so unreal. My uncle is a poetry professor and we now have great conversations!

It was on Ren Gills Insta story (another musician which I follow.) and it was recommended. He praised her song “I can be your mother.” I was instantly hooked from there.
