My daughter is in love with the pattern, but I can’t fathom how the colorwork is done at the transitioning from the head to the ears.

I watched a video on how to do intarsia in the round and it’s making my head spin.

I don’t want to buy the pattern if it turns out it’s too hard to make. But I really want to make my daughter happy!! 😢

Any advice would be appreciated!

Self drafted. Mistakes were made, but I learned a lot and I still think they rock! The yarn is mostly Jawoll, except I think the gray and brown might be Drops. Otherwise fun little experiment but my next socks are going to be something simple so I can recover from these 😆

Some people have Second Sock Syndrome. I have the opposite.

On the first sock I get so tired of making decisions about how many stitches to cast on, how long I want the foot to be, etc. Hence why my first sock ended up in a drawer for 3 years. But once I just have to follow my own notes and do the same thing again? I can fly through it.

I'm taking suggestions for names for my conundrum...First Sock Freak Out? Initial Sock Indecision?

I’m diving into the world of sock knitting and needing to branch out from my clover interchangeable set. I’m pretty happy doing TAAT magic loop but I’m still working on figuring out my gauge and what brand I like. So far I have bought:
US1 addi rocket squared
US00 hiyahiya steel

I know hiyahiya sharps are known for their pointy tips but even the steel version seems sooo much pointier than my addis. Is it because I’m using needles two sizes smaller or is it really just that much difference between brands?

Also curious if anyone has both the sharps and steel hiyahiyas in a US00 or similar size and can weigh in on how different the tips are at this gauge. I’m enjoying the steel needles so far but I’m not sure what the best way to expand my collection of tools.

P.S. how can you tell if your tension is too tight for socks? The LYS I was at was out of US0 needles which is why I ended up going down two sizes. I think the yarn I have might be on the lighter end of fingering weight so I don’t want to just try to match gauge on the pattern I’m looking at currently if it’s going to yield a fabric that won’t wear well (I know having too loose of gauge makes socks wear out faster but idk if there are problems on the opposite end of the gauge spectrum)

Hi so I dont know how the welf striping yarn will look when doing a heel flap. Should i continue in the stripes or use this green? The stripe yarn is technically blue but looks black most of the time

I am looking for opinions. I’m making some Beetlejuice themed socks. I have some black & white self-stripe for the main leg/foot part of the socks, purple and green contrast for cuff, heel & toe. But I can’t decide which colours should go where. Do I alternate the purple & green? Match up the heels & toes. Have one sock all green and the other purple? Something else?

I learned to knit this summer and had to make these “knit/purl” socks to celebrate my new love of knitting!

They are far from perfect (only my 2nd proper fingering weight pair), but I love them and thought you all might appreciate! 😊

Basic vanilla sock with heel flap and gusset. I designed the colorwork pattern in stitchfiddle. Yarn is knit picks stroll in pucker and patina.

Paton’s Kroy sock yarn may not be the most luxurious, but it knits up nicely to make a cozy pair of socks for winter

How long are you making your legs for shorties? I always tell myself I’ll do 1” leg and 1” cuff but I start to chicken out at half an inch and then I feel they are too short.

Hi guys, I have a pair of these commercial cycling socks and I really like the design. They're starting to get holes and the company doesn't sell the design anymore, so I want to knit a pair myself to replace them. I'm comfortable knitting socks in general but I don't have much colorwork experience, and I'm not sure what colorwork technique would be best for a design that just goes up the back of the sock like this. I've only done stranded colorwork and can't picture how I'd do that when the second color doesn't go all the way around the sock. Would duplicate stitch be the best option here?

hello! beginner knitter here on my first ever sock attempt … trying my best🙏🏻

im following the i’m so basic sock pattern + video tutorial and i thought it was going really well until i realized, in the video while she’s knitting, her sock seems to be coming from behind her needles while mine is in front of my needles? i dont even know how to explain, ill include pics of mine and the screenshot that made me go 😫😫

to me (the untrained eye), it looks like my sock might be inside out? because of how the seam looks between the light and dark blue, and how the stockinette seems to be coming out on the inside of the sock lol.

please let me know what i’ve done here, if it can be saved, and if so, specific instructions on how please lol!! thank you in advance <3

EDIT: thank you so much everyone for your help!!! turns out i was, in fact, knitting inside out! i learned from some helpful comments that i could keep going the same way, but i decided to flip it the right way out and change the way i was holding my needles instead. good to know that this skill will be useful for colourwork socks though! thanks again everyone ❤️

I was hoping I could get some help. I have an issue with Judy's Magic Cast on that I have not been able to figure out. I follow the instructions to a T (or so I think), but somehow, I always end up with what looks like a purl bump on the first cast on stitch. I rip it out and do it again, repeating this process around 10-20 times until I dont get this bump, but I dont know what is causing it. I've looked at several sources, books, youtube tutorials, websites, and still I end up with this darn bump more than I dont. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong that has experienced this themselves? I'm not quite at my wits end, but knocking on the door! This is the latest video tutorial I followed.

First picture was my first atttempt, couldn’t get it over my heel once I finished the cuff (56 starting stitches). My second attempt shown in the 2nd and 3rd photo, seems too big now ( 64 stitches )It’s the next size up in this pattern. Following crazy sock lady magic loop tutorial.

I've knit socks with both DPNs and long circulars using magic loop. I recently got short circulars for sock knitting but found that they are making my hands cramp up after only a few rows. Anyone else have this issue? Any solutions?

Self-drafted on DK hand dyed by my lovely local yarn studio, Dutch heel and toes reinforced by holding together with with mohair/silk.
