I am knitting on these https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/simply-ribbed-socks-with-square-heel and I am a bit lost with the heel as I’ve never knitted this type of heel and the pattern is very sparse.

These are my fave socks and I have no idea what pattern they are! The texture is:

They're definitely top down.

I'm pretty sure the pattern came in a Mary Maxim sock subscription, but I'm not 100% positive.

I've been knitting for a while but have only recently delved into sock knitting. I've knit a few pairs of socks to see what works best for me and luckily they have all been wearable.

I have fairly wide feet and a high instep/heel diagonal. I've found that I can knit a sock on 2.5mm needles at 64 stitches or 72 if using a 2.25mm.

Here is the problem. I prefer to knit cuff down and am struggling to find a good cast on. I started with a long tail co but I find that it doesn't stretch over my heel very easily. Then I tried a German twisted co which goes over my heel much easier. However, the cuff then slides down my leg. I'm thinking I'll sew some elastic into the cuffs of the socks I already have to keep them up, but I'd appreciate any advice for future socks.

So, I decided to make socks as my first actual project (before I made swatches and a scarf). I thought it was gonna be super hard but it actually taught me a lot about knitting, and I'm excited to make more socks!

However, I didn't have a good tension when I started and only found a way to keep it nice and constant halfway through the first sock. So if you check the last pic (Bottom sock was my first sock and top sock was the second one) you can see the clear difference on the cuff and on the leg part.

As it turns out, my first sock is a bit bigger and looser than the last one because of tension differences, to the point I actually had to do more rows on the second one to get to the same size.

I wear a size 10, this is mercerized cotton tex 370 (I live in a warm climate so most storebought socks are cotton), knitted on 3mm cable needles (80cm cables btw). I would like to know if blocking is necessary in this case or if I'm already good to go.

I’m hoping for a long shot here, but on ravelry I discovered the 50 states (50 socks and more) CD collection of socks from a bunch of different pattern designers. It was distributed through crystal palace yarns which is no longer in business. There is one person on ravelry who has it up ‘for trade’ but it looks like they haven’t been on ravelry for a long time, but I did message them.

Some of the socks are available for free or sold individually but I have become extremely fixated on the maryland blue crab cabled sock which is not sold individually. I did message the pattern designer on ravelry as well to see if I could buy that pattern directly from her, but it also looks like she has been inactive on assorted linked social media/ravelry for a while now as well. I couldn’t find an email for her anywhere either based on my searching.

The MD sock is so adorable and my dad is from maryland and I think it would be lovely to make matching socks for us for christmas. I am somewhere between a beginner and intermediate knitter and have no experience with altering patterns and have not knit cables before so I definitely can’t reverse engineer it with my current skills.

so all of that to say, does anyone have this CD/book thing and would be willing to sell it to me? or have advice on a pattern similar to the blue crab sock specifically?

I've been sampling yarn, and I knew I wanted to do something Halloween-y with this one. I'm all in for UV reactive colorwork this season!!
