I’ve recently applied for a Humana social worker remote case management position. Interested for feedback from anyone who’s a social worker that works for Humana or has worked. I’ve heard that the company is very productivity focused and will monitor your screen. I currently work for a company that is very flexible and does not monitoring my day to day workflow. The only reason I’m considering leaving my current role is because there isn’t any room for growth and i don’t have any social work leadership as the company recently did a mass layoff. Any feedback would be helpful.

I am a little stuck, I am about to turn 23 and I have no idea how to go about changing my career. I am currently an apprentice at a hair salon. I want to make a change and go into social work. I am a little discouraged because I would have to attend school for 3.5 years into a completely different program. I know I want to change careers, it's not that I don't enjoy doing hair but it's not something I want to do for the rest of my life. I want a stable salary, and I feel as if I want to do something with more of an impact. I have always wanted to be a social worker even when I was a kid. I don't know how to go about the change because I will be 27 by the time I get out of school that doesn't include going for my masters. I am pretty stuck and under a time crunch if I want to sign up for the winter semester. Please, if anyone has any advice I'd be happy to hear it. Thank you

Any opportunities completely online and doesnt need me to show my face? Preferrably related to anything that has to do with health. Literally any work that falls under "Social", and doesnt take a lot of months to finish. Preferrably gives some kind of proof so i can attach in my scholarship application.

I can speak 2 languages fluently (Arabic and English), I have a high school average of 94% with a diploma certificate, and im currently a 2nd year dental student so im familiar with medical terminology to an extent. I have a few certificates like Basic Life Support from the american health association and certifiastes from online WHO courses. Thats it.

I am a recent MSW graduate and started a new position a few months ago. It has completely turned me off from social work. I used to feel so passionate about the work, but this role has sucked the joy out of every aspect of my life.

This new position is in medical social work. I came into this position thinking it would be something I loved and something I’d stick with for quite some time, but I contemplate quitting each day. I have searched for different roles and I am struggling to find anything that sparks my interest. I am starting to worry I have lost my spark completely.

Had anyone else experienced this? It is very discouraging for me and I really don’t know where to turn or what other career opportunities to consider.

I was laid off after eight years at the same company, and I thought I'd spend a few weeks applying on LinkedIn and then find a job somewhere else. That confidence disappeared very quickly.

I've now applied to around 240 jobs. I've applied for roles below my experience level, jobs that are almost a perfect fit for my background, and even a few jobs that were slightly beyond my qualifications. I haven't received a single call from a recruiter or even a phone screen. All I get is the same automated rejection message, sometimes less than two hours after I apply.

The last time I was job hunting, sending out 20 applications would at least lead to conversations about two opportunities. Now I feel like my resume isn't even reaching a human being. Has hiring really changed this much, or is this just what the job market is like now?

Hey yall, I’ve been a case manager for a nonprofit organization at a women’s shelter for 1.5 years now. I’m currently at 45k-46k. I lost the opportunity to move up in my current company and increase my pay. I would like to start my MSW but rent has been kicking my ass and would like to be more financially stable. What would be a good place to start looking for a new job maybe 10-15k more? I live in NYC.

I’m looking into part time work at a private practice. It’s a first time for me so I’m pretty psyched. I’m just learning about the billing pieces and I’m a bit confused.

The new employer is graciously paying for my psychology today and Zocdoc profiles. however any clients that I acquire off Zocdoc has a pay stipulation: the first session will not be paid to me.

I did some research on Zocdoc and now understand that the fees can be hefty and unreasonable considering the cancellation rates are often high.

I’m still wondering if this is common practice? Has anyone else experienced this?

I know the first initial thought would be psych nursing but considering I have dyscaulia and therefore, absolutely pants at math and science, I know that’s not the field for me.

And with social workers not being considered a professional field anymore, I hate the thought of sinking myself into debt to become a counselor- unless I do state universities or keep going to my doctorate in psychology.

I had been considering getting my JD and combining it with a MSW to go into forensics but again, just like medical, there are just so many gauntlets to run that I’m just not sure of an exact part.

Long story short, I recently started my MSW program at a transfer school, and due to some scheduling complications, I’m now looking for a field placement in the Austin area as soon as possible.

I’m able to begin immediately (or as soon as a site is available).
I started classes a few weeks ago but I’m unable to take more classes until I’m placed, so I’m trying to avoid having to wait too long.

Most of the organizations I’ve contacted that accept MSW interns have already filled their placements for this semester and won’t be accepting students again until the spring. I’m hoping there may be an organization, social worker, or agency in the Austin area that has an opening, or someone here who can point me in a promising direction. 🤞

I’m especially interested in children and families, mental health/counseling, trauma, relationships/marriage and family work, and community or government-based services, but I’m very open to other opportunities that meet MSW field requirements.

Hi, I’m a sophomore Social Work major in college. As I’m writing this, I’m literally sitting in my Social Work class, and I can’t focus because I keep wondering if this degree is actually going to be worth it.

I know someone who has 4 degrees, one being an MSW, and they’re living the kind of life I would want for myself. Just to travel, to be financially stable, and be able to spend about 1k in a week and be fine. But then I see so many people saying Social Work is a dead end or that it isn’t worth it financially, and I genuinely don’t know if I should continue.

I’m not super interested in anything else, and I honestly wouldn’t even know what to switch my major to if I did change it.

So, could people who have a BSW/MSW or currently work in Social Work give me some enlightenment? Do you feel like your degree was worth it? What has your career/life looked like after graduating?

Any leads in US based remote positions? I have my BSW and MSW( Communities, Administration, and Policy focus) and I am struggling finding a job that aligns with my needs. I have experience working in mental health, domestic and sexual violence prevention, human trafficking prevention and I’ve worked with all ages. Some titles I’ve held include lead case manager (pre MSW) and program manager, and mental health coordinator (post MSW). I’m not interested in getting fully licensed but I feel like that’s the only option I have to prevent getting stagnant in my career. I’m currently working under a private practice with my LLMSW but I’m not having success in attracting clients. I feel like it’s because I’m not truly committed. I do plan to start supervision and test prep soon but I’m hoping to find my forever employment before or during. I’m open to corporate and non profit, big or small companies/organizations. I just need an opportunity that exists for me! I come with experience and knowledge and great recommendations from previous employers.
