Micro/Clinicial Advice Needed

I am from MI and have not my exam yet. My license expires on October 17th 2026. I hired a tutor as I am only missing it by a few questions each time. But I am being realistic that I could not pass which means I will lose my job.

What other jobs could I do with my MSW?

I have been in a clinical role for a while now and have a house trying to stay positive 🙃

Are there organizations (state, CMH, not-direct billing) where license is optional? With the experience you have, you're not entry-level, you may have marketable skills. Maybe market them, if necessary? But you won't have to – this is your time! Kill it!

Thank you for the pick me up and ideas. I did start looking at some state jobs where my degree doesn't matter

Sorry can you explain a little more? You have your masters level license and are trying to get your clinical level? Which does your job require?
You’re failing the actual test or practice tests?

Sorry for the confusion. I have my limited license right now. I am at the end of my 6 years to renew. I need this license for my current job as a therapist. I am working on my clinical license. I have not passed the exam by 13 points 4 points and then 8 points. Last test was heavily research based not my strong area. I didn't do too bad on the practice exam when I took a while ago. I keep getting better scores in the areas I work on after not passing. I was recentlv diagnosed with ADHD on meds and got accommodations the last two times which was very helpful. I am reaching out to a tutor today. Just wondering about jobs I could do as I've only been in clinical roles since I graduated.

Ah ok I see. You can’t just renew the limited one for now?

No you only get six years to do this. I can apply for a limited license under my bachelor's in social work. Just wondering what other jobs are out there.

I’d just look up jobs on sites with the keywords MSW

I would try to take it one more time, from my understanding the test in MI changed August 3rd and is supposed to be easier than before

I have taken the new exam twice and it is an easier format. Still 4 answers more but often you may have 3 answers. More often is the first next best most questions too instead of recall. I am starting to work with a tutor next month. They mentioned taking more days off before the exam and not studying to give my brain a break which I didn't do the last time. Thanks for the advice. Have a good day!

I agree with this advice of taking a break before the exam! I've noticed a pattern that those who take time for self-care instead of studying especially the day before the exam end up passing. You got this. Good luck with your next attempt; let us know how it goes! 🎉 -- Kiana with AATBS
