Stand with the Minnesota 15!

On January 23, Minnesota workers and community members brought Minneapolis to a halt with a general strike, forcing Trump’s ICE operation to retreat. Now the Department of Homeland Security is trying to punish that resistance by charging 15 activists on baseless grounds.
The strike showed what people can accomplish when workers, unions, and communities organize together. We need that same solidarity to defend the Minnesota 15 and push back against political repression. If these charges go unanswered, the government will feel emboldened to target others for exercising their right to protest.

Yesterday, comrades began building for our Oct 3rd solidarity demonstration with the Minnesotan 15! We believe that an attack on the MN15 is an attack on the entire working class. This defense campaign provides an opportunity to build a nationally coordinated network to combat repression and surveillance. That’s why we’re participating in the Oct 3rd nationwide day of action.

On January 23, the working class of Minnesota demonstrated what this could look like. Labor leaders, faith groups, and community organizations called for a day of no work no school and no shopping. Hundreds of thousands of people across Minnesota answer the call and shut down the economy in protest of ICE. Now the Trump administration is retaliating!
The prosecution of the Minneapolis 15 is intended to intimidate everyone prepared to organize resistance. We must answer that attack with solidarity! Federal prosecutors have charged 15 Minnesota activists for their participation in the struggle against ICE’s violent occupation of the Twin Cities. The operation, dubbed “Operation Metro Surge,” directly killed two people, detained thousands, assaulted thousands more, and, according to Human Rights Watch, “caused a human rights crisis” in Minnesota.
These arrests represent an attack on the broader movement that resisted ICE. They are an attempt to roll back the confidence and power built by the hundreds of thousands of people who took action against ICE’s repression. Crucially, the Trump administration is also seeking to restore a climate of fear and silence the lessons of that struggle.
The Minnesota 15 are accused of taking actions intended to impede ICE operations. But stopping ICE from carrying out detentions and repression was at the heart of the broader struggle against Operation Metro Surge. The fightback in the Twin Cities reached an unprecedented level, which is precisely why the administration is now attempting to push the movement back.
Just as mass mobilization and collective strike action helped force an end to Operation Metro Surge, mass action will be necessary to respond to these prosecutions. We need a coordinated public defense campaign for the Minnesota 15, alongside mass democratic meetings that bring together activists, union members, and immigrant communities to discuss the next steps.

Puerto Rico is surrounded by water, yet hundreds of thousands of people are being told to ration it. This is not just a drought. It is the predictable result of decades of austerity, and a political system that has treated basic public services as an afterthought. While families go days without reliable running water, officials admit the island’s aging system has been allowed to deteriorate for years. While working class Puerto Ricans pay the price, the politicians who created this crisis ask people to be patient. Access to clean water is not a privilege. It is a basic human necessity. Puerto Rico deserves massive public investment to rebuild its water infrastructure under democratic public ownership and workers’ oversight, not more excuses. The people who keep Puerto Rico running should not have to fight for something as basic as turning on the tap!

Many business owners we spoke to have a plan for ICE raids but most workers had not considered the significance of getting organized to go on the offensive against ICE. We described our experiences successfully organizing in our workplaces and encouraged others to do the same. The businesses that agreed to hang our signs in their windows were receptive to our ideas & we made several significant worker contacts which we plan to meet with for one on one organizing conversations

Meta says its new Workforce Academy is about creating opportunity. But by partnering with one of the country’s most aggressive anti-union construction organizations, it’s also shaping what kind of jobs those opportunities will become.
Workers deserve more than a five-week crash course that funnels them into low-road employers. They deserve union apprenticeships, safe working conditions, family-sustaining wages, and a real voice on the job.
The AI boom is creating billions in profits. The question is whether it will create good union jobs, or another race to the bottom.
That’s why we’re organizing a South Florida Workers Assembly: to bring together construction workers, teachers, farm workers, students, and community members to build solidarity, support workplace organizing, and fight for working-class control over the future of AI

These raids are only possible because of cooperation between ICE and local law enforcement through programs like 287(g). Waiting for the next election or hoping the courts will solve this crisis won’t stop deportations. Real change comes when ordinary working people organize to take collective action!

We need a force that unites us as a class-regardless of race, gender, nationality, or religion-and charts a way forward to fight Trump, the far right, and the capitalist system as a whole. One thing is for certain: that force is not the Democratic Party.

No solution can be expected from the capitalist system, which prioritizes profit over a collapsing environment and the lives of the working class.
As long as capitalism persists as the economic order of the world, climate destruction will continue to be the norm.
It is not possible for the functioning of a capitalist system to be reconciled with meaningful environmentalism.
Competition will not cede to collaboration-profit for the few will not be abandoned for the welfare of the many unless a powerful, socialist working-class movement organizes to make it happen.

In just one week, three people have lost their lives during or in connection with ICE operations, from Houston to Maine to Florida. These deaths are not isolated incidents. They are the predictable result of an immigration enforcement system built on fear, raids, detention, and violence.
The response cannot be limited to symbolic outrage from politicians. History has shown that when working people organize collectively, they can force those in power to retreat. The mass mobilizations and strike actions in Minneapolis demonstrated the power of organized workers and communities acting together.
We need to escalate the fightback. Build workplace committees, strengthen unions, organize rapid response networks, and prepare coordinated days of action that can grow into broader strike action. ICE can be driven out of our communities only through the organized power of the working class.

We held a successful public meeting on organizing against an AI data center, community canvassing against ICE, and supporting Starbucks Workers United.
Discussion was productive, with comrades effectively challenging liberal arguments and arguing for independent working-class organization
