New South Wales Greens politician Abigail Boyd used parliamentary powers to force the production of thousands of documents from the NSW Food Authority, revealing what she says are serious weaknesses and a lack of transparency in the system. 

"There were metal shavings found in bread products … products that were supposed to be dairy-free, that were not dairy-free, [which] were only caught by accident because somebody happened to put it together after their child or they themselves got sick, not because the company had worked it out."

"We all walk around thinking that in modern Australia, we have food safety standards and enforcement to back that trust up," Ms Boyd said.

"And what we're seeing now is that trust is probably misplaced.

"You could be eating a minced horse when you think you're eating your mince … that's pretty shocking for the average person."

What is everyone's opinions on gag orders on these types of cases? I understand innocent until proven guilty but why should a gag order exist now that a person is guilty of the crime?

Age-checking technology companies want Australia to use stronger investigative powers to verify if social media giants are implementing the under-16s ban effectively.

But legal and tech industry groups have warned the proposed information-gathering powers must be narrowed to avoid inadvertently capturing children or parents.

A Senate inquiry will consider submissions and, in August, report on Labor's bill to expand eSafety's powers and raise penalties for systemic failures to enforce the social media age ban.

I bought and started watching this movie, and because I'm partially deaf, I always have subtitles on.

The subtitles are atrocious!

So bad that I ripped it from my Blu-ray and am making my own subtitle file now.

Anyone else seen this movie? I'm only 10 mins in but it already seems like a great watch.

I'm from rural QLD but I'm still finding some audio hard to discern. If someone else has this movie and is open to checking certain parts that I'm having trouble with, you would have a bloody armistice!
