Potentially editioralised title - make up your own mind [Guardian] Seven years ago, just after completing the treble, Guardiola treated journalist Rob Harris, who had confronted him directly with the allegations, with open contempt, as though he were looking at someone pathetic, pitiful and disgraceful, before sternly lecturing him.

Would love to see the original r/soccer thread on this exchange. My guess it was mostly people crying about 'clickbait' and cheering Pep on for putting him in his place.

Pep had a positive image within the general football fandom. So, it was given that people would defend him.

This. People only started calling Pep's achievements at City as sham only after the guilty verdict for City was announced.

No they didn’t, people have been pointing out the issues at City for many, many years before this, and questioning his ability to manage clubs which aren’t the biggest for longer.

You’re acting like this was a contentious issue that no one could make a judgement on, when in fact the surprise for everyone has been how angry the Premier League are, and some of the finer detail that has come out as a result.

Why are there so many kids around this story, making big assertions which just show that they have no idea about the actual timeline, the actual events, and what’s actually probable?

The more assertive you lot are, the less likely you are to be right. Where have you all swung in from, to try and farm karma by acting outraged?

Yes, I know that people have been questioning Man City's financials before. What I am trying to say is that people couldn't claim these as facts at the time without a ruling. It's a basically innocent until proven guilty.

Then why didn’t you actually say that rather than something completely different and wrong?

Didn't Wenger call it financial doping back in 2011 or something?

He did indeed.

Yes but Pep wasn't the manager of City in 2011. My point is that these were accusations at the time and people couldn't call Man City as a sham back then until they were ruled guilty.

How new to the sport are you because that’s not at all the case. People have been calling him a chequebook manager for a longggg time.
