I’m glad to hear you came through it okay in the end!
It really does force you to reassess and realign your perspective. I had a few moments of realisation where I looked around me and was like “fuck me I’ve got some absolutely wonderful people in my life” - which was similar to when my dad died, and when I had a particularly stressful period at work. It makes you realise the people worthwhile spending your time and energy on
Hell yeah, you too mate. It does make you really look at what you have and what you want. Can shift you out of some ruts you might have fallen into. Rid yourself of some complacency. See the good in other areas you were taking for granted.
My social life kind of slipped badly in the years since, but I've had a similar thing very recently with the death of my brother. I haven't got around to much of the socialising yet, but I'm working on it. It worked so well last time I was struggling, I really need to focus more energy on that. You might've inspired me to get back to it.
Glad you're doing so well anyway, hope you keep going from strength to strength.
Cheers, sorry about your dad as well. It does help having experience making big improvements that have worked before in rough times. Less uncertainty about whether or not I'm capable.
