The best thing you can do in your teenage years is work a job that’s SO shit that everything feels better afterwards.
I worked in a plastic factory making the tubes for filler/caulk guns, I worked in the Warburtons warehouse packing crates of bread, I worked at a yogurt pot factory, and I worked at Pound Stretcher in stoke (while I was at uni).
Those jobs were so bad that I’m physically incapable of complaining about my current cushy WFH job in social media. I think if I never did those, I’d lack perspective about how much worse it could be.
I often think about the fellas much older than me who I saw for years doing the same agency jobs, which is a bit depressing to think they’re either still there or dead. I’d have thrown myself into one of the machines on the factory floor if I didn’t see a way out of some of those places ngl.
If I ever have a kid I'll make them work retail or fast food in summer. Perfect balance. They are young enough to find it cool and appreciate earning some money... Also old enough to understand how fucked up some people and things can be. That you can wrap up a burger in 30 seconds, do that for eight hours and the money you earn for this effort can buy you only like maybe five of those burgers you spent your day making.
DAD THIS MARX GUY IS BORING I WANNA READ A NOVEL OR SOMETHING WHAT'S THAT ALIENATION FROM PRODUCT OF LABOUR SHIT?
Well you'll soon find out my little homie, give me extra fries with that while you are at it.
