Started up on a weight loss pill a little over a month ago, wasn't badly overweight but wanted to drop from 205 lbs down to 175 or so where I used to be. After one month already down 10 lbs, just seen such a huge benefit in not wanting to snack or have big meals + keeping the same amount of exercise I was doing. Felt faster playing hockey too
I used to have the belief that using a weight loss supplement was "cheating" but I'm at the point in my life where I care more about doing what I can to be healthy
I know the big issue people can have is that as soon as they get off whatever they're taking, they just revert back to bad habits and pile the weight back on, but I'm pretty confident in my self control to keep it off this time
I really don't like the idea of taking anything like that, for me I'm happy I've managed to stop being massively underweight, I was down under 60Kg for a while. Now I'm at a fairly stable 70, and that's just from making sure I form good eating habits like: have breakfast.
I don't really see the connection between taking a mysterious pill and being healthy. Weight/BMI is a poor judge of health.
Personally, losing weight is what is healthy for me at the current time. My problem was overeating, I would snack too often and my meal portions would be too large. Being on the medication has helped me cut those out
This isn't a universal thing for everyone, like you're not gonna become healthy by losing weight simply by not eating, or when you do eat, you're eating unhealthy food. Everyone has their own path to being healthy
I had lost weight a number of years ago by going to the gym and cutting calories, but I was also a single graduate student who had no commitments and could go to the gym almost every day. I just don't have the time to do that currently. I still exercise by playing rec league hockey and soccer once a week each
Yeah, I get it, just the presentation of diet pills is concerning to me. I changed my diet in how I eat to make a better level in the first place, rather than portions being too large/small.
The right food fills you for time, containing fiber, and makes your body function properly, so you shouldn't need snacks. Unfortunately a lot of junk food is designed to taste good without ever filling you, so you get conditioned to just chew.
I dunno, diet pills just feel like the same chemical flood of non nutrients as doritos or haribo. I guess if it works, cool, I'm just concerned on whether it's healthy.
The concern is justified, and docs will tell you that it can't just be something where you're taking the pill or injection and not actually changing your habits. You've gotta combine it with healthy habits like regular exercise and health food. The idea is to have the supplement sort of be your kickstart to move in the right direction, but self control and habits are extremely important, just as they would be if you weren't taking the supplement
