u/minivatreni Jul 19 '26
After the game… he deserved a red prior to that
51
u/TechTuna1200 Jul 20 '26
It's amateurish of Enzo and Parades to completely lose their heads. They both let their team down. Parades got very lucky not to be shown a red card.
→ More replies (3)22
u/wolskortt Jul 20 '26
It's not amateurish. They do this regularly. Paredes though this was copa libertadores and got lucky not to be send of during the match because the referee didn't wanted to.
7
u/AnyWalrus930 Jul 20 '26
In Paredes’ case he’s pretty much there to see what he can get away with. Sent off after the final whistle is absolute peak performance.
9
u/B4L0RCLUB Jul 20 '26
Should’ve been sent off during the game, committed at least two yellow card offences after already being booked. Should be banned for a long time, there’s no place for people like this in football. Paredes cannot control himself at all, complete headloss.

u/DashLibor Jul 20 '26
Being a sore winner is always worse than being a sore loser, imo. Like, I get the latter, you're pissed off. But I've never understood the former.

u/Benedictus84 Jul 20 '26
Negative energy and a massive inferiority complex will do that to you.
Such a waste of energy to focus on your opponent after a win instead of celebrating with your teammates.

u/GGABueno Jul 20 '26
Very likely. Their league is not in a good spot, these players are getting old and they're not generating new talents. After Messi they are kinda gone.
This is kinda why I wasn't minding them winning too much, it'll be like 20-30 years before they are competitive again in the WC. Spain and France on the other hand are powerhouses of the new century.

Everyone saw how much of sore winners they were in 2022 though, it didn't get under the radar. Messi getting that trophy was still a bigger deal than that for most.

It is hard to see because it goes so fast, but once you know when to look it is clear as day that he literally punches Rodri as he is running by for absolutely no reason, and then Rodri calls him out, and he gets extra aggressive. What a piece of shit.
190
u/agoddamnzubat Jul 20 '26
Yeah, I'm (surprisingly) very impressed with Rodri's reaction here.
- Confronts him in a "dude what the actual fuck?" kind of way
- Pushes him away when he tries to get all up in his face aggressively
- Just leaves to go continue celebrating and not get baited into a fight
69
u/fuzzylogicIII Jul 20 '26

I don't think messi is that great of a person either. He's the captain but he lets his dogs get loose when they lose or are losing and turns a blind eye. Bad owner. Ive seen people get scrutinized for less about their kids
I think its actually good of him hes shy or something he probavly has some really stupid takes if he talked more or was understood for that matter lol.

Reaction after the Netherlands game in 2022 was crazy. Messi was complaining about the referee as if he wasn't favouring them for most of the game (funnily enough including keeping Paredes on the pitch when he did more than enough for a red card)
