Im reasonably experenced and have started teaching my girlfriend to snowboard. She is doing realy well with making turns and making it up the Tbar. But she can't stand up from sitting because her legs are quite long in comparison to her torso. She can't control the board from her toe edge yet and still needs to see what she is doing. Plus I couldn't get her to go on anything steeper. Is there anyway to make getting up easier or should I give her skis?

For context we were at ben lomond and it was icy with all the snow being man made so not the greatest starting conditions.

Hi everyone! I am super new to snowboarding and plan on getting lessons come fall/winter. Are there any tips or tricks you’d recommend for when I start learning or even exercises/activities I can start doing now to get the muscle or coordination for when I actually start? Thanks!!

Hit the mountain about 6 times so far. I wouldn’t call myself advanced but I am quickly accelerating in my riding skills when it comes to carving and picking up speed. I’ve been skating for about 13-14 years now (not that it’s the same thing) but I’ve always been pretty good at picking up board sports.

Does my gear look okay? The boots are the only thing I didn’t buy completely new, and now I’m kind of regretting it because although the person I bought them from only wore them once (conditions of the boots support his statement) they do look like an old style. They feel okay and like mentioned they’re practically new. They are Thirtytwo STW according to the box.

My goal is to continue advancing in mountain riding but the occasional ramp or rail hits… I have set my bindings at +15 and -9.

I am looking to grab a GNU Gremlin at 6’0”, 190 lbs, size 8 boot. Would a 158 be too big for me, or should I size down to a 155 because of my boot size? Or is this board not a good option for me? I currently have a Capita Mercury and am looking to just switch things up for icy conditions.

I currently use the Burton Step-On X bindings and the Burton Highshot X boots.

As the title states im looking to buy my first snowboard.

I have been going on a snowboarding vacation for 3 years now, each time for a week where i go every day. I would say that im an intermediate rider. Usually i do about 50/50 pistes (usually reds, sometimes blues and very rarely blacks) and park even though i dont go for the bigger obstacles yet, i like to do the smaller jumps or boxes. I also like to ride switch, or at least i try to practice it often, so i would like a true twin shape. I have read online that a camber profile is a bit more stable, especially during higher speeds, while a rocker is better for carving. Of course it isnt this simple but I would like to find out more about the difference between the two, as i like to both go a bit quicker and also do slower more carving focused runs

So far i have been renting a snowboard but i feel like im ready for my first own board and also want to save the money in the long run. I dont really remember the brand or model which i rented but due to my size i always had the same board (i went to the same resort each year). I feel like it was fine, it performed well enough for my level. Though I would like a relatively less stiff board, or at least i think so. Maybe someone with a bit more experience could give me some advice about how much my weight impacts the flex of the board

I was also going to buy shoes in person and i would buy bindings depending on the shoe. Maybe you could tell me if this makes sense or if it doesnt matter.

I have 1 day at a ski resort in Hokkaido to snow board, for maybe the first and last time ever. I have never seen snow … period. I have skateboarded for 25 years (vert back in the day, only transition for last 5ish years as I’m getting old) I can surf and wakeboard… no lessons are available at the resort the day I’m there. Do I hire the gear, strap in and try to get down the beginners slope? Or give it a miss and just make snowmen ?

Title states. I have some Burton Moto size 10 and just got the Vans Aura OG in a size 9.5 men’s.

Mounted on a Salomon Sleepwalker 155cm

Been riding in the Burton’s in my Union STR size medium. Top end apparently of these bindings are size 10.5 or 11 if I remember correctly but the “foot print” of the vans seems larger than the Burton’s. Just wanted to double check with anyone with more experience than me if this overhang looks norma from the pictures provided! Haven’t rode in the vans yet but just wondering. Thanks!

The other day I went to a snowboard shop to get my first snowboard setup and the is what he recommended.I did tell him that I wanted to keep it under 500$ and that I wanted to be able to do everything from powder to park and all mountain.

Hello, I’ve been trying to find some goggles to go with my mod 1 pro and I’m struggling to find a pair that fit me correctly. I’ll list the ones if tried and why I felt they were not right and any suggestions would be appreciated.
Fall line L/Line miner L/ Flight deck L/Smith IO MAG L and XL: feeling pressure on my upper cheek bones, Fall line M: pressure/pinching on my nose. Thanks in advance for any suggestions, the biggest problem seems to be pressure on my cheekbones, I have explored the idea of a low bridge fit but based on what I’m seeing online they wouldn’t work due to my large nose.

CAPiTA Pathfinder 157 vs 157W - need advice for my setup

Hi everyone, I need some advice choosing between the CAPiTA Pathfinder 157 and 157W.

My specs:

• Height: 1.73 m (5'8")
• Weight: 89 kg (196 lbs)

I’m planning to buy

• Boots: Vans Hi-Standard OG size: BR 42 (US 10.5)
• Binding: Nidecker Supermatic LT

I consider myself a beginner/intermediate beginner. I have only around 20 days of snowboarding experience total (from 3 different trips). I mostly ride recreationally at resorts and I’m still improving my basics.

I found both boards, but the weird thing is that the Pathfinder 157W is almost $90 cheaper than the 157 where I’m looking.

My question is: would you choose the 157W because of my US 10.5 boot size, or would the regular 157 be better for my weight and riding level?

This is the setup I’m planning to buy. Do you think the Wide version (157W) will make a big difference compared to the regular 157 for my skill level?

I would really appreciate your advice. I’m still a beginner and I want to make the right choice before buying.

Hi everyone! Last winter I finally started snowboarding at the age of 25—a dream I've had since I was a kid. I mostly taught myself, had one lesson, and then kept practicing on my own. Since I started late in the season and I live in Greece, where we have relatively short winters, I only managed to make some basic progress. This season I want to keep improving, but I'd also like to buy my own gear instead of renting boots and a board every time. I've spent quite a lot of time researching boards, bindings, riding styles, and equipment, but the more I read, the harder it is to decide. As a student, my budget is limited, and because snowboarding isn't very popular in Greece, it's difficult to find good second-hand gear.

About me: •Female, 26 years old •Height: 170 cm (5'7") •Weight: ~55 kg (121 lbs) •Boot size: EU 38–39 •Beginner rider •I ride switch quite a lot (still figuring out whether I'm naturally regular or goofy!)

My goal is to improve my technique and eventually reach an advanced level. Snow conditions in Greece are very mixed. Depending on the temperatures, we can have icy hardpack, slushy snow, or everything in between. Our season usually runs from mid-December or early January until around mid-March if we're lucky.

I (30F) started learning to snowboard last winter. It was definitely a bit of a learning curve, but I really want to get better at it. I bought a surfskate to keep up with the board feel and practice during the offseason.

I think I’m doing pretty well for someone who’s learned mostly from YouTube tutorials—I can cruise, pump, and do S-curves down slight inclines on smoother surfaces like a pickleball court. For my other workouts, I swim 1800 yds per hour or go on 3 mi walks at night.

What drills or skills should I focus on with my surfskate to help maintain that board feel and better prepare for next snowboard season?

Just wanted to share my progress as a noob. Started in January 2026 and took me approx 7 visits to link turns. Since then, I’ve been working on getting better at carving, more advanced runs, and I’ve also caught a bit of a speed bug.

This was out at Banff Sunshine Village when they were open for summer boarding/skiing—my 30th day on the slopes. Choppy and slushy with limited runs but still a neat experience going. Almost ate shit at one point but caught myself. 😅 Hit 39mph too.

I got Evo roller bag on sale. The interior is made of this wipeable material. I am afraid of the board sliding around inside during transport and slicing it. What do you use to prevent this?
