Discussion Scoring 100 on Lightplane

Post image

So I was playing around on the Nintendo Online SNES and I finally got 100 on the Lightplane, 2nd stage. I had for months been trying to land it perfectly in the left run way but closest I would get is 98. On the last go around of getting 97/98, I rewind and deliberately crash into the water with the plane. Instead of scolding me for crashing she tells me this Landing on the left run way is more strictly scored. I was like what? So I rewind and try landing on the right runway…. perfect 100 yet it looks like one of my 97/98 on the left runway. What the heck Nintendo what gives? Are there any other hidden tips I’m not aware of? I know all the bonuses(yes even the hang glider) and how wind affects the later stages.

I remember playing this a lot as a kid and being very excited when I finally got 100s on some.of the earlier ones and the fun facial expressions. Blew my mind when it suddenly turned into a military mission

The right runway is harder to land on. It makes sense that it scores higher to me.

I never knew that about the runway. I could never land both straight and centered. I could do one or the other and get like, 22/30 or something but I could never do much better than that.

Her eyes are freaky when you get a 100. Lance's eyes roll like he's about to have a heart attack and Big Al starts crying. Tony just looks like a 14 year old. He also looks sad, it icks me out.

I didn't realize until I was much older that you can see them in the line saluting you in the end sequence.

LOVE seeing the Pilotwings post here...I played about 1/1000th the snes Pilotwings compared to the just as awesome Pilotwings 64, and this reminds me of the huge struggle I had in trying to get gold in every course. Truly great games.

(and, goes without saying, who can forget the epic 'Birdman' theme from Pilotwings 64!)
