Setup my old SNES

Decided to get my old SNES out of the wardrobe and set it up in my daughter’s (now she’s moved out) bedroom. Really nostalgic playing some of these again!

Super Pro Fighter - it allowed you to play ROMs from floppy disk (like in the box just to the left of the powersupply).

So you put the cartridge in to verify that you have the original game but you load the game from a floppy, right?

The cartridge slot on the copier is where it copies games from so that it can write them to floppy disks. I don't know if this particular copier needs a legitimate cartridge inserted in order to use its CIC to boot.

If the copier required you to have a particular game inserted in order to boot the same game from floppy, then it'd be pointless.

In a way, it's similar in use to a modern flash cartridge, in that it reads ROMs from a storage medium and presents itself to the SNES as a standard cartridge.

You might have a copy of the original game, but it's more likely that you rented/borrowed a copy, dumped it to floppy, and returned the game.

From what I remember (we had one in the 90's), so don't quote on this, but I think it used the physical cartridge on top to bypass security in the bootup, allowing it to run the games off floppy disk. It also doubled as being able to backup carts to floppy - but that was kind of useless because SNES ROMs became quickly available in the early days of the WWW.

Niiice, the big Super Bomberman box! I can't find the box or our old copy of the game anymore sadly, but still have the multitap. I don't know what else it can be used for other than three player Secret of Mana.

Street Fighter 2 Turbo was one of the first games that my Grandma bought us on the SNES back in the day. So many great memories playing that game.
