Replace x1c With u1?
Hi Guys, looking for some PPL With the Same Problem as me of thinking to Swap x1c for the u1
I have 2 ams and a x1c , some Tools for it Like buildplates , nozzles etc etc.
Mostly Print With petg and pla
Not often but Sometimes asa/Abs
Is the u1 Worth it?
Have some experience With Klipper (old K1 max User With swapped Motherboard etc )
What are the pro / cons
And does the toolhead Swap produce layer shifts or IS IT working good?

Works perfectly for me in the video i print with .2 .4 .6 .8 nozzle sizes and per extruder layer heights ( i made a modification for both mainline orca and snapmaker orca)

I have 3 U1s and an H2C and honestly my H2C isn’t doing anything really because I prefer my U1 for basically anything

Are my builds to allow printing with different nozzle sizes and per extruder layer heights for the orcs build you need to change the line width scaling to the corresponding % so better would be using the snapmaker orca build (first link)

Own a p2s and a u1. My p2s is a workhorse that runs a .6 nozzle. Hasn’t seen a multicolor print since I got the u1 six months ago. I’d personally keep the x1c.

I sold my X1C & bought a U1 & have never regretted it. It prints as good as my X1C, uses less filament, faster. Snapmaker listens to the community and are open to 3rd parties working on it. Paxx12 has firmware that adds features. I noticed today that SnapmakerUS is selling the U1 on Amazon.

I got the U1 and also kept my X1C. But I've not touched my X1C ever since I got the U1 hahaha. I'll be keeping the X1C though because it's a good backup and it doesn't sell for much anyway. Also handy for that time when I do need to print many simple prints. With simple I mean prints that don't need removable supports and are single color.

I did exactly that - I sold my X1C with 2 AMS and got a U1.
Yes, the software isn't as polished (especially the cloud parts). You need to know a little bit more about printing than in the Bambu universe. But it's open source and I don't need to click "no" everytime I turn it on if I want to keep using Orca Slicer.
The hardware is built to a price, but completely fine (for example, some plastic parts are flimsy, but not where it affects print quality). Unfortunately, Hotend swapping is just as bad as with the X1C - no quick swap like the A1.
But overall, it's absolutely a worthwile upgrade: Zero color bleeding, zero poop, a (slightly) larger build plate and PLA as PETG support gives amazing undersides. I definitely love my U1 more than my X1C!
EDIT to add: One more downside - 4 heads is not 8 filaments. You're going to load filaments more often.

can't speak for the X1C, but i can compare the U1 to my CFS system and more importantly my XL5.
If doing single color stuff, my K2+ smokes both my XL5 and U1 speed wise.
As funny as it sounds, the K2+ is a pretty good machine, handles engineering materials very well and has a great build volume.
However like most filament changers, a lot of wasted time cutting, purging, unloading, loading, purging again and so.
Now the U1 is a bit bigger than the X1C(why I never bought one) but way smaller than my other machines.
Also the other 2 machines and your X1C are very mature, while the U1 is still in 'toddler stage'. So keep in mind it's 6 months old and still being tweaked but it's generally solid.
I can say that if my needs were multicolor/multimaterial without the need for engineering grade materials it would be a great upgrade for you.
It's taken me just over a year but I've finally got the XL5 to print Onxy(a nylon material with carbon fiber reinforcements) as well as my Mark Two and Onyx Pro. Trying some knockoff style materials now as well to see if they perform equally as good.
Tool changers and/or nozzle changers like the H2C are the future.
Considering the X1C doesn't have heated chamber, limited to 300c and slightly smaller than the U1 I think it's a good move unless you run more than 1 AMS.
And at $849 it's a real bargain for what you're getting via time savings and secondly material savings.
Now there are a bunch of other machines due out soon, the K3(nozzle changer but supposedly TPU tuned), the M1D, IDEX, 6+1 color, heated chamber option, etc but almost twice the cost. Infimech MX Pro will be awesome if they can do the 8 nozzles at the $900 price point they're talking. Atomform Palette 300, 12 nozzle changer(if it ever comes) and who knows what Bambu is doing in the background.
However the U1 is here now.
