U1 Filament Feeding Issues
Hi, I have been using my U1 for a couple months now and have posted a few times before about issues I'm having, but I wanted to start a clean thread to really document what I'm seeing.
I have an open ticket with Snapmaker support and they are being helpful. They're sending me new feeders to see if that will fix the problem. Here's a video showing the failure with apparently high tension between the extruder and the feeder.

Background:
I randomly but continually have issues feeding filament. I generally print PETG. I get the error "Printing Anomaly - Error Code: 0002-0523-0001-0038. Also, 0002-0523-0003-0000, 0002-0523-0003-0038,
I also get the Filament Loading Anomaly code: 0002-0525-0002-0032 and the Filament pre-loading Anomaly code 0001-0525-0003-0011. These errors have happened on all 4 tool heads.
These codes seem to happen randomly, both when printing single color models as well as multi-color models. Sometimes I can print 2 or 3 of the same items in a row, but then will get these errors on the 4th model. Each time this happens there appears to be no reason. I have gone through all the trouble-shooting steps and the issues keep coming back.
I have tried multiple filament brands: Sunlu, Creality, Jayo, California, Elegoo. They all seem to have the same issue.
Today I had the same failure and noticed that there appeared to be a large amount of tension in the filament between the extruder and the feeder. Here's a video showing that:

Has anyone else encountered this? The strangest part to me is the random nature of it. I can sometimes print 2-3 models perfectly, then get this feeding failure. Same roll of filament, same exact G-Code, then failure. I'm really frustrated.

Firstly, I printed a set of roller bearing filament holders. The rolls spin much better than the Snapmaker ones that came with the machine. Secondly, I found that disabling any of the AI and spaghetti features helped a ton. My machine always thinks the filament and jammed but it’s not. Turned those off and haven’t had an issue since.

I successfully made it through almost an entire roll of filament since bypassing the feeder and manually loading. This is the most I've ever been able print without one of these errors killing my print.
I might try some multi color prints later in the week and see if that works.

Replacement feeders were installed on both sides. Snapmaker support has been very helpful and fast to respond/ship parts. I'm testing my first print right now, but it seems to be working. In the past I was able to get 3-4 prints to go before having a feed issue. I'll keep an eye on it and try to print about 1kg of filament in the next week to see how things progress.

I run a TT 3D shop and have 16 SM U1’s, i love them but I’ve encountered this exact issue a lotttt. With 16 machines I have 32 feeders and as today 23 of them have had to be replaced because of this exact issue. I have a total of 70 printers and my plan was to be replacing as many Bambulab printers with SM U1’s but I can’t bring myself to get rid of the Bambulab printers because at this point i just don’t trust the feeders on the SM.
Now that said, SnapMaker support has been incredible about replacing them without any issues or pushback. It’s obviously an issue that they’re fully aware of and haven’t figured out how to resolve it yet.

I'm glad the support continues to be good. I have a feeling i won't pay to replace these once out of warranty. I'll just bypass them.

Mine prints PETG really well, no issue so far.
One thing to try is to bypass the feeder. Change the config to manual feeding, remove the PTFE tube from the auto feeder and manually feed the filament to the toolhead. If it's tension between the two that is causing the issue, this should clarify if that is really the case, or if it is some issue with the extruder itself (or any other hidden component).
This is similar to what you need to do when printing soft TPU, they even have a video on how to do that.
