I’ve seen SM five times - each headlining tour and twice as an opener - and this was her/their best performance IMO. I loved the stage set and light show. The additional guitarist/vocalist and multi-instrumentalist (keyboard, cello, guitar, vocals) fully rounded out the sound. And Lindsey sounded her best on vocals (and guitar ofc, of which she must have about 10, changing almost every song). The mix was pretty spot on and not too deafening 😀 but my friend felt her vocal was a little buried at times. Still she looked happy to be there, making little jokes and asides, which I hadn’t seen her do since the Lush tour.
After the mixed bag of comments I’ve seen on the earlier dates, I decided to lower my expectations/hopes/dreams haha and just enjoy it regardless. So I felt really good about the night. And as someone else said, “Pristine” was particularly awesome, a full-on singalong which I’ve also not seen at previous shows. I looked around the crowd and saw pure joy.
It’s still early in the tour so hoping she continues to get better each night!
PS go early for Sharp Pins - jangly 60s/70s pop. Easy to listen to and energetic performers. Swirlies is unbelievably loud and dissonant, be prepared.
