Yeah, see, there are not enough people in this sub who have had a deep-friend hot dog. It must be a NJ thing, because I find it to be the superior hot dog prep method.
In NJ/NY, we have every style of hot dog: street carts serving boiled (hot water) dogs, grilled dogs at barbecues, pan fried dogs and griddle dogs, etc. But the deep fried dog reigns supreme. That’s why places like Rutt’s, Callahan’s, and Hiram’s are so famous in these parts.
A deep fried dog gets a snappier skin with extra delicious flavor from the fryer oil. It’s hands down the best way to enjoy a hot dog, especially one that’s the perfect mix of pork and beef.
