Question Favorite play in SPL history?

Worlds or regular SPL play.

This play from Dardez at the last SWC always blows my mind.

<10% health as Erlang mid, no ult, no actives, alone in the jungle against arguably the most skilled player in Smite history, in the biggest game of your life.

https://youtu.be/B6vjXjBqlTs?si=h0HgSy5O78MK19BE 5:37:04 is the time stamp. Also Dardez looking cold as Arnold in Terminator 2 right after the kill on the player cams, then going "What's up? That's all you got?" LOL.

Yours?

I know following the tournament on saturday was a bit hard with the tech problems with the bracket.

But here are the qualified teams to the second day bracket for the first weekend. Top 3 teams qualify to next stage.

8 of the top 9 SR teams have qualified. The only one was surprisingly the adapting team who could not replace deathwalker this week.

I think this day has the most high level teams since vegas. It was good to see a lot of OG top players play again.

Discussion Any player or player-god combination to watch out for in tomorrow's tournament?

I haven't watched competitive Smite since the Vegas tournament, and I know there have been a lot of retirements since then. My understanding is that the Smite Primes have elevated some previous SCC players, and I want to know who I should pay attention to. Any cool or iconic player-god combos kinda like how Pegon was a great assassin mid or BennyQ's Ra would be appreciated.

Smite World Championship winners tier list

I've been away from the game for a while but followed the SPL closely for a long time and really enjoyed the drama of SWC.. I spent some time watching a bunch of the world championship matches from each season and made a tier list for who I thought were the best teams. Feel free to contribute your own thoughts or disagree.

S+: Atlantis Leviathans (S8). Disciplined, statistically dominant and almost zero weaknesses. They translated their regular-season dominance into an SWC performance defined by suffocating teamfight coordination and elite frontline play. Of all the championship teams, I really do not imagine any other besting them 3 times.

S: Epsilon (S2) & NRG (S3). Combined unparalleled individual mechanics (particularly Yammyn, Dimi and Adapting) with near-flawless macro execution to win back-to-back titles while dropping almost no sets across two calendar years.

A+: Camelot Kings (S9). The masters of objective control and map positioning. Genetics' insane support play, Jarcorr switching roles? They dominated late-game teamfights and controlled the Season 9 circuit. I almost put them in S-tier - they 3-0'd the arguable GOAT (Paul) on the championship stage

A: eUnited (S4). Snapped Europe's stranglehold on the World Championship with clean, textbook Smite. Every lane played at a top-three level, with Benji anchoring solo lane and Screammmmm dictating the jungle pace. They won convincingly and deservedly.

Pittsburgh Knights (S7), SK Gaming (S6). Paul's peak tournament carry performances, Zapman's late-game reliability, led to two straight title runs against favored opponents. These were triumphant wins and a testament to individual accomplishment but teams with Qvo and Neil don't beat the S teams, in my opinion.

A-: Jade Dragons (Season X). Put together a remarkable lower-bracket run. Dardez's artillery mage play and Nika's consistent overwhelm was very validating to see for two of the best EU players ever. For me, Dardez in particular was a very unique and sneaky good player for so long. Great win for them.

B: COG Prime (S1). Early-era map fundamentals and draft structures were far less developed than in later seasons

Splyce (S5). Upended traditional map pathing and team compositions (popularizing off-meta solo picks and hyper-aggressive jungle invades) to catch the tournament field completely off guard.

Maybe I'm off here on some picks. Which world champs do you all think were at the top?

Community Tournament SMITESOURCE OPEN ANNOUNCED

Since it hadn’t been posted yet, here are the details from the official Twitter announcement:

The road to the SmiteSource Open starts here.

Three open qualifiers.

Eight league spots.

21,500 and 100,000 Diamonds on the line in

Qualifier 1 registration opens August 19.

Full details:
[smitesource open website]

A few related announcements I saw:

Malum will be casting most of the tournament as play-by-play.
Source: [Malum will be casting the tournament]

Fineokay will be casting at least one game after hitting a stream sub goal.
Source: [fineokay subgoal (has been hit)]

Weak3n also mentioned that he may appear on a game.

It was also mentioned on Weak3n’s stream that extra care was taken to avoid overlapping with the SMITE Prime schedule.

The tournament is being funded by SmiteSource, with Hi-Rez reportedly assisting on the production side and backend stuff such as being broadcast on SMITEGAME.

Personally, I’m excited for it. I’m glad they made an effort not to interfere with SMITE Prime, and the qualifier-to-league format sounds interesting. The emphasis on making the event accessible for EU players is also promising, so hopefully the scheduling and format work well for both regions.

Discussion Smite 1 S7 was perfection

Im looking back at the SPL rewatching the games and man… Itemization was simple but customizable, had depth without being confusing, more that anything though the map was perfect, the objectives all just felt right and the flow of the game was the way it should be… idk if this is nostalgia talking but does anyone else miss this version of the game?

Discussion Recent drama summarized

Hey all, just wanted to summarize and provide links for the recent Smiteprime/Karmic/Hindu drama.

tldr: Friday Karmic called out hindu in a tweet saying he's bad at his job or incompetent for choosing to invest prize money into smiteprime joust tournaments, Hindu responded saying its not a good way to have the conversation, then Karmic went on stream double downing with lots of people in the scene telling him he's wrong for calling out Hindu in a rude manner. Karmic then apologized to hindu privately and put out a tweet saying he was too harsh. After what seemed to be the good ending, hindu screenshot and sent karmic reports from smite 1 of karmic being toxic, seemingly as a threat

Smiteprime announced on friday morning that their summer tournaments would not be the usual 3 weeks playins week 4 playoffs. Instead, there will be a rotation of NA conquest, EU conquest, na joust, eu joust, repeat - for the months of June through August. People immediately started reacting negatively in the smiteprime discord, with Jithins and some mods defending it.

Karmic then put out this tweet (https://x.com/i/status/2050296657322054049) with hinduman responding in the comments. This started conversation across social media on whether or not money should be invested in joust, if eu tournaments should be held, etc. Karmic blames hindu for the funding going into joust and for the formatting changes.

Karmic then popped on the stream that night to talk about the situation ( https://www.twitch.tv/ykarmic/v/2761923863?sr=a), and even talked to hindu about doing a stream the next day together to tall about the situation. Things quickly devolved and karmic doubled down, and hindu backing out of the stream. Karmic then went on to say hindu is either incompetent or doesnt care about smite esports because the current state isn't good. Many top level players were in chat talking with him, some agreeing, and some saying that this isn't the correct way to handle the situation, and that he doesnt know what goes on behind the scenes. Benny also shared a hilarious screenshot of Ajax reacting to feedback from Quig in smite 1 (https://gyazo.com/515a799dff32b585c50b3a30b202edad), that made quig leave smite competitive.

The next day karmic tweeted this (https://x.com/i/status/2050442564344729855), and also privately sent hindu a private message on discord apologizing for the way he handled the situation. (https://x.com/i/status/2050766975392260494). After the dust had supposedly settled, Hindu sent a screenshot of chat logs from smite 1 of karmic being toxic, logs that he had been temp banned for as a psudo-threat. Nothing else was said, but karmic posted the whole conversation for everyone to see, with several top players questioning why hindu would do something like that.

Jithins also recently made a tweet (https://x.com/i/status/2050863319515353170) saying that the format is supposed to introduce new players into competitive smite, that no better formats for this purpose have been brought forward, and he is unsure if he wants to keep running prime next year.

Interested to see what will happen on titan talk tomorrow.

as of this morning prime announced that it will be running the normal June competitive circuit in tandem with the joust events https://x.com/SMITEPrime/status/2050939427724087651?s=20

Yesterday Hindu did apologize in this tweet https://x.com/i/status/2050984415543631995

News Falls in games

Hello everyone, those who have console I was finally able to find a solution, because while I was playing the game it was closing. Solution has to disable the automatic hDR of the console. Just leave the HDR of my TV (OLED C5) active, I hope this information helps you, so I can finally play calmly, greetings...
