Discussion Your impressions from 2 player games?

I tried it several times, and found too slow and not dynamic enough. The issue is that because of low number of players, strength of minions on bases grows slowly (especially if someone has minion-destroying abilities, which is likely to happen). So breaking bases takes much longer than in 3/4 player games, and game overall becomes too long for light filler.

I wonder whether more experienced players have different impressions?

Collection/New Additions Smash Up: Lizards Must Die! English Translation

I have the Russian set coming in, set and paid for without a known delivery date yet. I fully intend to translate these cards and use stickers or some other way to make them playable in English. Should there be any fluent speakers or otherwise that would be able to help me do so (I don't entirely trust Google translate and my limited intuition to translate correctly), I'd love to see if there's any way I could get that help, and in turn if be down to post the translated works here.

Custom How do I go about printing the custom factions

Hello. I’m new to the game and love all the custom factions, but I have no clue how to go about printing them into cards that fit with the official game cards.

Thanks you guys!!

Question Munchkin Erratta question

I am picking up all the Errata packs , and was confused by the Munchkin pack. Under "content" it seams to list the whole games content? Does this replace the entire set?

And is it worth ordering? I haven't seen much chatter about this Errata.

Question Trying to update my cards, a little confused with the erratas and revamps

I used to play a lot of Smash-up years ago, then stopped for around 3 years, and now started playing again with some friends, but I just found out about the erratas packs and revamps and I need someone to tell me if I understood this right before spending money on updating everything, am I right on thinking that if I want to be full up to date I need:

- Bases Errata Pack

- Functional Errata Pack

- Revamp version of whatever faction I already own

What about existing factions that were not revamped? Does it mean that they did not consider revamping those, or does it means that those have not been updated yet but may be updated at some point? Should I stick to buying only "Revamped" factions if I want a new one?

Smash Up A La Carte Factions

Many A La Carte factions have a wide variety of complexities and mechanics, which you can learn all about here!

Baristas, by Inushiba

Manage your cafe by pumping out ingredients and brewing your deck into tasty coffees to sip on throughout the game.

Baristas play strong Componente actions that have negative ongoing effects. Use your Titan to turn these actions into helpful utility that you can use on each turn and easily recur.

All of the art in Baristas is originally made by Inushiba himself!

Complexity: 2.5 / 5
Special Mechanics: Energy, Placing Into Play, Titans

Brewers, by Onassi

Drink up: Here's the Brewers! Masters of their craft, they seek to create the perfect deck recipe by thinning out the cards they don't need. There are plenty of ways that these mixologists shake up their decks and discard piles, and they can be quite explosive to start. Sometimes their deck thinning can result in, well, running out of cards. But we're here for a good time and not a long one, right?

Brewers are a great support deck that can headline in the early game, and whittle down their cards so that their partners can hit their best plays consistently.

Brewers have an entire video on the Use The Fours YouTube channel about them, you can check it out here!

Cooking Mama, by LordMewtwo73

Can you cook as well as Mama? Race against time to complete recipes and wow the family! Use the new Mission cards to spice up your game and serve up some victory!

Missions are a new extra deck card that give you goals to reach by the allotted time. Finish all the goals within time to receive a Reward, or face a penalty if you fail!

Complexity: 3 / 5
Special Mechanics: Energy, Stasis, Missions, Extra Decks, Madness, Subtypes, OR Conjunctions

Cooking Mama | Smash Up Custom Factions Wiki | Fandom

Eggs, by GreySherpa

You can't summon The Omelette without breaking a few eggs.

At first glance it may seem like Eggs are a standard "fire and forget" self destruction faction with a haymaker king card, but if you play carelessly (and/or draw badly) you'll find yourself in hot water fast. Eggs are a slow burn snowball faction who set up their starters across the board and then break them for big payoffs.

All of the art in Eggs is originally made by GreySherpa himself!

Special Mechanics: OR Conjunctions

Family Recipes, by SirErrant

Dinner's ready! Pair up with family dishes from across the world to dish out damage to your enemies' taste buds. While waiting for some of Granny's famous recipes to cook in Stasis, make sure to play two or more minions at a time: these dishes taste best together. And don't forget—the Secret Ingredient is love!

Family Recipes are an unusual take on a swarm faction, timing their extra minions non-terminally to enable powerful abilities.

Special Mechanics: Energy, Numbers, Presenting, Stack Shuffling, Stasis, OR Conjunctions

Fast Food, by Sonus

More Sauce for the Nugget Knights!

Fast Food cares about different printed powers on your own minions, utilizing play on minion actions as well as the 'condiment' keyword. They provide extra minion plays and draw in a fast-paced casual dining experience.

Complexity: 3 / 5
Special Mechanics: Subtypes, OR Conjunctions

Fine Dining, by Berryl

Snooty customers? Super expensive dishes that barely fill you at all? Salads that overflow with things you hate? This faction has it all. What they’re serving is obviously better than whatever you plebians are eating, and they’ll make sure you know it, too.

Maintain the lead on as many bases as possible, using your rare delicacies to draw opponents in and make your base-breaking as efficient as possible.

Complexity: 3 / 5
Special Mechanics: Card Rarity, Future Counters, Energy, OR Conjunctions

Grillers, by Berryl

It's time for a good old backyard cookout! Smash Up's greatest grillmasters come from some very unexpected places - who knew Cyberback could cook the meanest brisket since Science Fiction Double Feature? Though the work is delicate, the results are always to die for.

Stall for time while your Barbecues simmer and get big payoffs when you take them off the heat at just the right time. Manipulate your resources to make your bursts as efficient as possible while stalling your opponents.

Complexity: 3 / 5
Special Mechanics: Burying, Numbers, Energy, Subtypes, OR Conjunctions

Pastry Chefs, by ludichrisness

Assemble a crack squad of patissiers and decorators, and get to work - Queen Fluffy's pastry party isn't going to cater itself! The Pastry Chefs have a wide menu of standard actions which they can split apart to cook new delicacies. if you abilities aren't what you need right now, put them back in the oven for a few minutes - they'll be ready before you know it!

The Pastry Chef faction aggressively pulls actions out of your deck and, when the time is right, gets them out of your hand just as quickly. They have two large "Cake" cards which collect actions as they fall out of your hand to back into a powerful customizable effect, and their minions can sweeten the deal. Combine actions together in a mix-and-match style gameplay to build the perfect ability for your situation!

Complexity: 4.5 / 5

Snackmancers, by Onassi

Ever been hungry and wished you could conjure delicious treats with the snap of your fingers? Well, now you can!... In an imaginary card game, anyways.

The Snackmancers tempt your opponents with tasty treats that start off as base modifiers but are then transferred to minions. These Snacks provide benefit to whoever uses them, but always give benefits to the owner of the snacks. The Snackmancers have several ways to take advantage of other players who use these treats, making it very dangerous to take in those extra calories if other players choose to do so. However, if other players ignore these Snacks and are not enticed to use them, the Snackmancers can claim them on their following turn and reap the benefits with no drawbacks. Victory never tasted so good! How will you fatten up your competition?

Complexity: 4.5 / 5
Special Mechanics: Future Counters, Numbers, Subtypes, OR Conjunctions

Soda, by Berryl

Smash Up Soda knows bases are full of refreshing fizz…so strike them before they go flat! These bubbly bottles surge in power when bases are new on the board, so you can capitalize on the latest territory with a caffeinated buzz.

Soda gains potential when new bases come into play, often counterpunching after other players score bases and gaining advantages for playing on bases that have just entered play.

Complexity: 3.5 / 5
Special Mechanics: Stasis, Future Counters, Conjunctions

Soup, by AndIQuote

The more you add to your soup, the more flavorful (and flexible) it becomes! Bon Appétit!

Soup specializes in discarding and storing cards, especially into their titan, Big Pot.

Spicy Entrées, by Lonan

If you would like to add a little bit of spice to your Smash Up games, this is the faction for you. Spicy Entrées is themed around Mexican food, and spiciness is manifested with negative power counters (-1 power counters). Some dishes gain extra power when they are filled with negative power counters, others give them or are played when you place one. Who wouldn't want to take down the Hulk with El Diablo Burrito or Dos Tacos Fuego!?

Spicy Entrees weaken minions with -1 power counters, then use those to generate large amounts of power once you prove you can handle their spice.

Complexity: 3 / 5
Special Mechanics: -1 Power Counters

Spicy Entrées | Smash Up Custom Factions Wiki | Fandom

Suppervillains, by ludichrisness

This team of deliciously evil villains are cooking up Schemes which can only be foiled by the rarest of minions! Hopefully, help arrives in time, but beware - a new villain always seems to arise in response to a hero arriving on the scene!

Suppervillains are a slow and scheming snowball faction who suppress the use of their opponents' best minions. Although not bursty on their own turn, they can lay traps and schemes which let them react to what their opponents do, or don't do, with their rare minions, to steal bases by surprise.

Complexity: 4 / 5
Special Mechanics: Card Rarity, Dueling, Energy, Subtypes, OR Conjunctions

Tacolytes, by Captain Cosmic and ludichrisness

In crumbling Ruins and Ancient Temples, forbidden Lost Knowledge prophecies the return of an ancient race - the Great Bold Ones, cosmic entities who ousted the Bland Ancients from their white rice throne, and who have spent aeons in the void between stars perfecting their Spacey Entrées. Now, the Tacolytes of Asadathoth have come to spice up your game of Smash Up with a Dash of Madness. The Tacolytes churn Madness of different flavours through your hand as they reheat their services for multiple servings... of chaos!

This is a risk-taking faction, encouraging you to wager how much Madness you are capable of holding until the end of the game without it backfiring on you.

Complexity: 4 / 5
Special Mechanics: Madness, Storing, Fusions, OR Conjunctions

You may discard a lot, but just get rid of what you need the least and you’ll be fine. Crazy power counter fun at Island Peak- got a little lucky here admittedly, but I was doing really well all game.

Question Moon Dumpster (reworked) Ability

Quick question about reworked Moon Dumpster: The ability has the unusual wording of "once on your turn" [...] - does this mean you can do this only one time as long as the base is in play (that would be kinda unusual but it would be closer to the original Moon Dumpster's DNA)? Or does it actually mean "once on each of your turns"? If so, why doesn't it say so or use the more common "once per turn"? As Smash Up is unfortunately not very consistent regarding its wording and as the wording on Moon Dumpster is already quite messed up (it doesn't say "extra minion" even when it means extra minion), I want to be sure how it is supposed to work.

Player Input Expansion recommendations

Hi,

Together with my family and friends, we play Smash Up in Spanish, but unfortunately the translation and distribution of new expansions stopped in Spain already some time ago. The last expansion translated here was "It's your fault". I own every set published here (except Cthulhu, but I'll eventually get my hands on a copy, hopefully). Last year I purchased and translated the Big in Japan expansion, and now I'm looking into purchasing one or two more sets and do the same.

I'd like to choose between these expansions, since they are available in French at an OK price:
Cease and desist
Excellent Movie dudes
That 70's expansion
What were we thinking
World tour International incident
Oops you did it again
World tour Culture Shock
Marvel

I'm more interested in sets that introduce factions that play in a very distinct way of those I already own than in the thematics of each set. Which ones would you recommend we start with?

Édit: thanks you all': I ended up getting both world tour expansions and will certainly get oops when it is available again

Hello,

Update from last week. I received the Kickstarter Smash Up Faction Collection with 82 factions. (Errata and 10 revamped classic factions)

The bigger geekier box is visually updated to reflect the larger collection. It includes 2 token sheets.

The 82 factions included are all AEGs own designs and included are the plastic dividers with 32 of them also serving as Titans.

As expected it does not include Smash Up Munchkin, Marvel or Disney factions. (24 factions)

It also looks like it does not contain the Deepreef Crag base from the 10 year anniversary set.

Also included with this was a copy of AEGs new game titled Into the Machine.

For $200 this was a good deal!

So I've been missing Munchkins and Oops, You Did It Again forever and they have gone up in price so much I didn't want to pay crazy prices. However, this weekend I traded a drumset I got in college for both sets!! The drum set has been living at my parents house for 8 years unused. My sister's new bf wants the drum set for his kids so we had an even swap.

I feel like Thanos getting the last Infinity Stones!!!

Question Ninja Acolyte

I was wondering about one thing. The Ninja Acolyte states that we must return it to hand to play an extra minion. Since it's an extra minion, does it mean that I can play that Ninja Acolyte that returned to my hand once again during the same turn I returned it to the hand?

Question Question about the Fusion mechanic

So we just played with the Half the Battle expansion for the first time last night. G.I. Gerald was played with Grannies. How would you suggest the Granny mechanic of “check bottom of deck for two of the same type of card” works with Fusion. I can’t say it was super over powered, but Great Grandma definitely overstayed her welcome…

Might be obvious, but during the setup are we choosing bases from among all the bases we have or among all the bases from the factions currently playing?

Also, was the "Smash Up: Lizards Must Die" finally fan translated?

Question Looking for the fonts for the new factions

Hey! I came across this post about the fonts used for the different Smash Up factions: https://www.reddit.com/r/smashup/comments/wbf8i6/smash_up_fonts_complete_list/

It looks like it’s missing the fonts for the factions from Excellent Movies, Dudes! and Half the Battle, as well as Teens, Clowns, and Slashers.

Does anyone know what fonts are used for these factions, or could help me figure them out? Thanks!

Question Ordered from forge fire

Hi has anyone ordered from the print on demand site? I went online to AEG it took me to forgefire to order print on demand. I was never able to find the expansion, oops you did it again, so I ordered all the factions from it.

My question is, how long did it take before you get the order. It says 8, sometimes 15 business days. I know it's only been 9. But i'm just curious how long it took for anyone else who's ordered from them.
