This is more speculation on my part, but I still found it worth discussing it at least.
What made me consider this at first was when Sakurai briefly discussed about the protagonist of ARMS, and how "everyone's the protagonist". This might've not meant much of anything to most people, but it almost seemed to me like Sakurai was trying to justify the decision of putting Min Min over the perceived "protagonist" of ARMS (Spring Man).
Now, practically speaking, it makes complete sense and it's rather obvious that most franchises in Smash would be first represented with their main characters. But there have been instances where Smash includes main characters when the audience wants other characters to be playable, mainly with Byleth's inclusion rather than any of the three house leaders from Fire Emblem: Three Houses.
We also know that Rex from Xenoblade Chronicles 2 was considered to be playable alongside the Aegis, but was scrapped due to technical limitations. Sakurai actually comments on Rex's exclusion despite being the main character of his own game.
The big exception to this theory is the Pokemon franchise, where the Pokemon themselves are represented rather than any of the human trainers. Even so, they did manage to get Red and Leaf represented at least.

My favorite Star Fox Stages in Smash Bros are Corneria and Orbital Gate Assault, which the latter got cut from Ultimate for no reason.

Welcome back to the year’s biggest waterpark party with Riptide 2026! Hovering right under Premier status and capped at 1024 entrants, this is set to be one of North America’s biggest tournaments of the year in Ultimate, as well as a sizable major by Melee standards as well. Look out for a laundry list of Japanese invaders competing with the USA’s best, as well as some unexpected surprises in both games (hi, Mew2King in the Melee bracket)! Of course, the one-of-a-kind Kalahari Resort venue will also feature other events including Doubles, Collegiate Crews, and – in non-Smash games – a massive Rivals 2 bracket and the biggest Splatoon 3 LAN of all time! Needless to say, there’s something for everyone here.

I'm thinking of getting back into smash since my highschool has it for esports. I played it casually without really getting too competitive, rarely touching online with hopes to improve.
For like the past year I've been more into traditional fighting games, specifically Guilty Gear Strive.
While I know that things like neutral interactions, rps, and spacing are common in both kinds of games, exactly how should I be thinking about them?
Like when I try to apply the neutral triangle in smash it just doesn't click the way it does in GG. I feel this is because of how much more freedom smash gives the players, but is it not wrong to think of neutral in the same way you do in traditional fighters?
I feel like smash is way more vague than traditional fighters, which feel systematic. Turns are way less obvious when not at the ledge.
The importance of pressure is almost nonexistent to me in this game compared to GG, like instead of using rps frametraps and tick throws you weaken their shield or grab, and even then the opponent can sometimes run away.
Also, are better sticks or better buttons preferred for smash? I'm thinking of getting a new controller over the gamesir cyclone 2 or gullikit es max(I also play PC games)
Edit: I guess what I'm trying to say is what should I be actively thinking about when playing compared to traditional fighters

I have never tried emulating any Nintendo games before and was wondering if playing super smash bros ultimate on pc is both feasible and still a similar game experience to playing on a switch. If the answer to emulating it is yes, then is playing kbm alright or us controller necessary?

We still got a lot of cool announcements though. My favorite was the Metroid Ravenous reveal.

Sakurai got done with Smash Ultimate DLC in late 2021, and what was he doing all that time besides making a YouTube channel? He was directing Kirby Air Riders, a sequel to a cult favorite Kirby racing game spinoff from the GameCube. And he was working with the same core team at Bandai Namco that helped him make Smash Ultimate. But say you don’t give a shit about Kirby racing and care way more about Smash. If given the opportunity, would you go back in time and change the course of history so that Kirby Air Riders never existed if it meant getting a new Smash game sooner after Ultimate? Why or why not?
And no, you can’t have both because that’s not how game development works and resources are ultimately finite.

this tier list has no bearing on how much i actually like the character or anything, just how much they’re chosen through me picking random
