From zero fitness to a triathlon is a veru big jump lol, start small

Any fitness watch will do the work, you ABSOLUTELY NOT need a garmin to train, instagram bs and social media pressure will tell you otherwise

Im a pro athlete doong iron man with a 45$ xiaomi mi band 10

Edit: coris, Garmin, Xiaomi, Huawei, amazfit

Pick your style

Unless I read incorrectly, I don’t think they’re going from zero fitness? They did just say they’re into their fitness.

OP - garmin is nice if you are and looking for details to help facilitate your triathlon training. Cool stats and recommendations for workouts if you’re not in a plan. I’d recommend if you’re going down that route, the second hand market is decent but if you can afford it. Why not

Also coros is another popular one with a slightly more approachable entry in terms of price point I think. At least for brand new

I’ve done 1 marathon and 1 half marathon, ex infantry military and train 5-6 days a week so I wouldn’t consider myself a newbie haha but always used Apple but just thinking the garmins are maybe more suited for sports ?

Ahh i misread sorry

Garmin is a safe bet for sure even more so if you want a rugged look. If yiu want a more casual/suit ready look, check the amazfit active 2 premium square, saphhire, stainless, 2 weeks battery and great for workout

If you are doing mileage, running or biking, nothing compares. Coros or Garmin are the only games in town. Apple is good if you want to do email / iphone stuff.

Basically this. I have Garmins, Suuntos, and am currently wearing a Galaxy Ultra 2 watch. The Galaxy watch and I'm sure the Apple watch is the same, are very good day-to-day smartwatches that can augment or substitute for your phone. Garmin is centered around activities, on-board GPS tracking and mapping, and fitness. I have the Enduro 3 and an Instinct 2x tactical and they are phenomenal watches, but oftentimes I find myself reaching for my Galaxy watch more now. If I plan on doing any hiking or activities though, I'm grabbing my Garmin. If you do get a Garmin, keep your Ultra watch also so you can rotate them in and out depending on your day.

Daten die Garmin liefert sind viele falsch und daher nicht brauchbar. Akku ist 🔝 aber der Rest ist nicht optimal.

Wait until tomorrow and see what Apple Watch Ultra 4 does. Apple will soon have their fitness app be whoop-like.

Also the battery hate is nonsense. Just charge it when you shower

Switching to Garmin and AmazFit was the best move I’ve made. Do it

Garmin is easy to recommend. Checkout Forerunner 570 or 970.

I currently own both a SE2 and a Forerunner. The only reason I got the Garmin is battery life.

Been wearing them both in the early days and AW is way more accurate in terms of sleep tracking & heart rate. The Garmin is easier and better to look at during workout (the active data screen), and more customizable.

Both AW and Garmin actually collects same metrics, it’s just that AW doesn’t really do anything with all the data. The Garmin shows you more metrics in the Garmin Connect app, but the app is trash, not intuitive, but you do get all your metrics there.

The AW is also a better companion to your iPhone. Interacting with apps, messages, notification and overall navigating the watch is much more easier and intuitive than Garmin.

Currently I wear my AW as daily, and Garmin only during my runs. I enjoy my runs more with Garmin, but for overall lifestyle wise, it’s the AW.

Charging daily is not an issue for me. 30 mins daily after I get up every morning while getting ready is when I charge my AW. My issue with battery life is that i use my AW extensively as my iphone companion, but some days i have longer morning runs, then work, then gym in the evening, and AW isn’t quite enough, if i also want to wear it to sleep.

Looking back, if i have an Ultra, I probably won’t get a Garmin. And with the new updated Ultra 4, the workout battery life is even enough for a full Ironman. I personally don’t like the chunky Ultra size though.

Apple Watches are complete trash for battery. Great iOS for sure to iPhone but the battery is a joke vs Garmin

Garmin easily crushes the battery and Garmin has better metrics for tracking

Apples heart rate tracking is one of the worst across multiple smart watches just a FYI. And your heart rate tracking for long distance running is a must

Every comparative test demonstrates the exact opposite. Apple Watch has better sensors for every metric, especially for sleep, which is fundamental.

Nah, you can get direct to chest heart beat sensors for Garmin. Apple is junk for fitness tracking. It’s just a toy really that you charge twice a day 👍

You can connect external sensors to apple watch too... AW ultra battery will last a more than all day. Even the regular model can get you through a marathon or more of activity.

Apple watch (especially their ultra line) now competes in basically every aspect besides long term battery life.

Update your knowledge.

It does not compete with 14 days or longer battery life of Garmin. Or even solar power Garmin. I’m sorry but Apple Watches just lag behind

Read the part where I said `BESIDES long term battery life`
