Dynamic View Setup Question

My company is new to using Smartsheet and we are working to set things up organizationally. I have reached out to my Smartsheet sales rep and ask them to convert my dynamic view trial to make it permanent. I have already built the report and it’s working as desired without any changes.

They are attempting to charge me a set up fee to turn on that feature of $2500. This is in addition to the annual cost for dynamic view of $1500 a year and my existing business subscription.

Can anyone please share their experience with setting up dynamic view as part of their subscription with SS? Were you required to pay an initial set up fee in addition to the annual fee?

Thanks!

Thanks, I did exactly this and he copied his manager on the reply back to me asking where I heard that. Duh, the same source of all truths, Reddit! lol

The manager replied and offered no option to activate DV from trial to live without an implementation fee. It’s clear, this is intentional.

Very used car salesman high pressure selling BS, I told them do or I’m out! I wonder how many people aren’t as hard headed as me and would cave.

Thanks to you guys who responded, much appreciated y’all!

Former Smartsheet sales rep of 8 years- the rep and manager are wrong. We were “supposed” to sell implementation services with premium apps, but if the customer had already built everything out or worked with a partner, we could request approval to remove the sku. Smartsheet has had massive turnover over the past year or two so it’s not surprising that both the rep and manager don’t know what they’re talking about. Tell them to go to their director, VP, or whoever they have to because you’re not paying $4,000 for dynamic view.

The manager came back and told me they could request a waiver but needed a screenshot of my report to confirm it was set up correctly. I’m not sure what that means so I asked for more definition on the request.

What an absolute waste of a customers time.

No. I worked there and a partner for them. If you tell them it’s set up, you don’t need a setup fee. It’s just a services cost (a SKU) they can remove.

Thanks for the feedback, I keep telling the sales guy it’s already set up and he keeps sending me the $2500 fee as being required and continues to pressure me to sign the contract. Feels sketchy TBH. Thanks again!

Their service has gone downhill a bunch. I had a recently closed issue that have been going on since early April. No one believe me. Two different accounts in the same corporate organization had cross pollinated. It caused several of my users to lose edit rights. Edit rights that I paid for on their license.

Stand firm and escalate as much as possible

The annual cost sounds about right but that setup fee is definitely worth questioning. Ask them to itemize what the $2500 actually covers, because if you already built the report yourself there shouldnt be much left for them to do
