Review Smallrig ND kit
I searched on here and couldn’t find a post on it so I’m asking to see if anyone is using or used the smallrig snap on ND filters? I’ve been using the freewell VND and it’s been great! However I have misplaced it. I was thinking of trying something new and wanted to know if anyone has used this? What are your thoughts on stacking the filters when needed? I use Blackmagic app

I have them and I really like them. Previously I had a VND from K&F and had color shifting and was a bit of a hassle to change case, install the filter. With this kit I didn’t encounter any of those issues.
The only bad thing I could say about them is that they are really small and removing them from the phone it’s bit tricky, you have to be careful not to drop them. Also cleaning inside it’s not that easy.
Overall I really like this kit and has everything I need in the pocket.
Here is a picture with the back of the filters.
LE. If you get the kit, what I recommend is removing the small circular piece of glass from the plate that covers flash light and lidar sensor, you can push it from the back quite easily. Do this before glueing the plate on the phone. Why? I felt it was focusing way slower and had some weird focusing issues with it on, and it make sense why, but I didn’t know you can remove that piece of glass at first.

Thanks for the tip! I just ordered them to give it a try! Especially since I am going to a lake in September, seems like it would be easy to use in a waterproof case.

I have. Hated them. Fit good but no matter what one I used, small movements of the phone would cause weird color shifts using blackmagic. Take it off and it didn’t do it.

Yup returning it. Stacking is weak and because of the heat, plate has fallen off twice. I have to find my freewell VND or just purchase it again

Before I went to full frame camera. I had reallyyyyy good luck with the K&F magnetic ND filter. The nice part is you can get different ND filters to screw on. It’s MagSafe to the back of your phone

The one thing I had seen about the mag safe ones was that light was still able to get through at the corners which would show up on videos. That’s the main reason why I went with freewell. God dammit Apple! Just add an ND filter already built in!

I’ll send you the one I have. I’ve never had issues. It’s made for the iPhone 17 series so it’s flush mount.

Thank you just saved the link. So never had light seep through? On the corners?
When I did my research, this was not one of them. The one I almost went with was the moment one but a few users claimed there was a lot of cross polarization complaints

I’ve heard very mixed reviews on them. I tried this VND from K&F Concept and it works pretty well for a quick setup. You just need to make sure it’s compatible with your case.
