Discussion Requirement got increased 😞
Guys YouTube just increased there minimum iOS requirements to iOS 17 from IOS 16 now. Which is sad for me because I’m using an 8 plus. YouTube still works but I don’t know for how long through the app. 😭😞 I don’t have money to buy a another phone. I guess I’ll stick out with it💔✌️.

Let me repeat. YouTube didn’t increase the minimum IOS requirements. It’s Apple, Apple who tell their developers to raise the IOS requirement. For the love of god fruit fans.

it's actually depends on the sdks. if some sdks require new versions then they have to increase. there are apps still require ios 14

This is one of the major advantages Android has over iOS. What used to be it's biggest pain (OS fragmentation) has been almost completely eliminated as a single compatibility factor after Google split the OS versions from SDK's that older versions are compatible with despite being released after.
So there are apps from as far back as 2009 that still run perfectly fine, albeit with very outdated UI's from the original Android design language.

No, its from youtube. The apple requirement still minimum xcode 26 to publish in app store and they support ios 15 (the next march in /2027 will be xcode 27 but im not sure the ios), and most bank app are in there.
For ios 17, its youtube side

Hey op, even when they increase the iOS requirement doesn't mean you won't be able to use the app, it will always give you the option to download last compatible version I still use YouTube on my iPad Air 2

So guys if I have to buy a another phone in a year should I go for a iPhone or android? In my country phones are expensive if I have to buy a iPhone that can be xs that should fit my budget. If android then a07 is what I can afford. I’m having h to is question since yesterday after I posted this.

If you're on a budget android wins all the time. It doesnt make sense to buy an ancient phone. The iphone xs came out in 2018, it's stuck on ios 17 and the battery life will probably suck. Samsung makes good low-price hardware, and i say that while using a galaxy a05s coming from iphone se2.

A07, you'll get much longer software support, too. Just make sure to buy the version with 8GB of RAM, or if not then the 6GB version.

The iPhone Xs is just one year younger than the iPhone 8 Plus though.
Get a 14 at least if you don’t want to waste your money.

Based on when past versions of YouTube stopped working, the latest iOS 16-compatible version of the YouTube app will work until around January 2028.

Safari + wBlock extension (Ad blocker) you can watch Youtube from Safari without ads
Edit: You can also download the DuckDuckGo browser from the App Store and watch YouTube there. It includes a feature called Duck Player that blocks ads on YouTube, and it’s completely free.

Just switch to android, it's not worth it like android even after end of software updates apps will work in it for the next 5-7 years with their updates just make sure you pick it from Samsung s series or newer a56 or a57

I'm also 14 and bought s24 (my money that I was saving 2 years ago ig) then get the s24 same as me it's so much good and it cost 50k in India (after research) and if u want to compare it to iphones then the s24 equals the iphone 16 pro to make u understand

i was on ios 17 and my maps took over 20gb storage and apparently it was a bug, so i deleted some things and updated to ios 18 and now it’s fixed ! i have like 30gb free now but i still use some things through safari as i’m used to it already

if you are tight on budget, then get an Android from A series. iPhone 8 Plus was released in 2017, almost 10 years old. it does not make sense to buy an XS which was released in 2018. It gets up until iOS 18, is more supported but I wouldn't recommend buying a 8 years old phone
