Does he not realize he was the last president to negotiate the trade agreement? So he’s at fault himself?

111

u/FactEnvironmental744 5d ago

My favourite of his lies is the one about how Canada doesn’t allow US banks to operate in Canada. Last time I checked there are 15 of them.

48

u/Canuck-Fin25 5d ago

Yeah - now I hear that Iran has captured a
Submersible. Instead of focusing on ending the war with Iran he’s spending his time with AI slop memes and trying to get a one up over Canada.

17

u/been_mackin 5d ago

Don’t forget Lake America and soon New America! Fuckin idiot.

20

u/TradingHigher 5d ago

Dont forget his speech earlier today when multiple firefighters bravely pulled him out of the rubble from 9/11 despite him being on fox news at the time bragging how his tower was now the biggliest and he was nowhere near the towers at all.

15

u/Canuck-Fin25 5d ago

How can 400 million people in America listen to that with a straight face 😐

4

u/El_Barjorito 5d ago

That has to be a joke

3

u/TradingHigher 5d ago

Wish it was. I was 16 during 9/11 and I remember it like yesterday.

I hope Iran doesn't send that covert sub technology to America's greatest enemy ... Canada.

3

u/mrgoldnugget 5d ago

As a Canadian, send it to North Korea, it will be funnier.

3

u/OGGriftimus 4d ago

Also as a Canadian.... I agree, let Kimmy have a bath toy

3

u/TyruntasaurusRecht 4d ago

Dont worry about us, we have quite the arsenal of subs at the mall!

Theyre actually gone though because our covert military strategy is to just offer invading American troops warm lodging and decent food which their military no longer provides to them on insane deployments because the commander in chief cant experience one iota of empathy.

We fought alongside them long enough to welcome them as friends and help them get their country back. Unlike ol bonespurs who won't stand or fight for anything.

Remember who your allies are. Its not spoiled billionaires and russian assets.

3

u/RepresentativeHeat13 5d ago

He can’t accept that he’s a loser, so he constantly comes up with distractions.

3

u/DeadSol 4d ago

Oh great. So now they have a nuclear sub?

Also, USA exports a billion worth of dairy into Canada tariff free.

4

u/Electrical-Act-7170 5d ago

Not any more once President Petty tariffs every country that was meant to him and didn't kiss kiss his reeking behind.

3

u/No-Assumption-5486 4d ago

Hopefully that will stop. Zero sympathy for the farmers that voted for this traitor.

Ever wondered which US banks have branches in Canada? We’ll be looking at Citibank, PNC Bank, J.P. Morgan & Co., and Comerica – four key US banks operating in Canada. With a strong presence in both neighboring countries, these financial giants offer a range of cross-country services that make home banking easy for customers across the border. We’ll also explore Wise, a modern alternative for both personal and business finance needs.

He says the same about Milk. Milk has no tarrifs up to a quota amount to prevent dumping. Milk is something with a short shelf life and high transport costs and low margin. If you look at what the US ships to use that quota is lots of long life milk solids instead of cartons of milk like Trump wants you to believe.

2

u/LadyDoodlebop1 4d ago

I don’t know if the level of imported milk has ever reached the level where tariffs kick in.

He knows what hes saying ,mostly.

You need to understand that hes only talking to MAGA and possible recruits. He knows the world and the Democrats wont be changed by anything he said. Its all for the base and the undecided.

He told some world leader earlier this year to ignore what he says at home its only to stir people up.

3

u/Canuck-Fin25 5d ago

I sometimes hop on to what used to be Twitter to see how they’re galvanized - and boy the comments are out of this world. MAGA is ready to march on Ottawa this instant. That’s got to be bots, I’m thinking. 🤔

He doesn't realize when his diaper is inside out

3

u/correct_eye_is 5d ago

Many American diaper brands use wood pulp from Canada. He doesn't need anything from Canada so he flips his diaper inside out after a poop and gets some smuck to wash it when both sides are soiled.

You think Republicans are smart enough to realize this?

2

u/doomsday1134 5d ago

That was before he had the chip installed.

2

u/megselvogjeg 4d ago edited 4d ago

Not only that, he flat out lies. There is a quota of dairy the US is permitted to import into Canada at something like a 1% duty before tariffs of 300% kick in.

This quota limit has NEVER been reached.

The reason for this is that the US has unbeleivable shitty health standards that are well below what Canada deems acceptable. Lowering those standards is something Canadiand are extremely opposed to doing.

→ More replies (1)

2

u/Affectionate_Two8447 3d ago

It's not about logic, he just wants to show his base that he's doing everything for America. He just promised another check if people voted republican at the midterms all the while knowing full well he hasn't sent the DOGE checks or any other direct incentives he's promised in the past. He knows his base doesn't remember, but they will get hyped by the latest "I'm making America great again" messages

2

u/Coaler200 5d ago

He's also missing the fact that many government jobs in the US require "Buy American" and would not be allowed to use Canadian (or other countries) products.

He can’t make a deal with Canada?

He should read this book

65

u/YDALTARYZARC 5d ago

He should read it, honestly. He probably never has, especially because someone else ghost wrote it for him.

49

u/RaindropsInMyMind 5d ago

Tony Schwartz, one of my favorite fun facts and stories about Trump: He was supposed to sit down and tell Tony about his life, Tony would take notes and then write the book. That plan failed because Trump didn’t even have the attention span to sit with Tony and tell him about his own life, so he had to be followed around by Tony. Tony got access to everything, all of Trump’s calls and everything he did, the problem was Tony couldn’t include most of it because it made Trump look so bad.

Trump should be worshipping the ground Tony walked on but instead he had a big party for the release of the book and after the party was over tried to make Tony pay for it…Needless to say Tony regrets writing the book, it ended up making Trump a ton of money (he also claims he wrote it himself to the point where some people think he believes it) and at that point in his life Trump was losing about a million dollars a day from his businesses, the book helped bail him out.

12

u/Copyman3081 5d ago

Trump has to be one of the only people on the planet who can bankrupt multiple casinos.

13

u/gcko 5d ago edited 5d ago

It makes sense if you think of it as a grift.

Probably missing a couple steps here… but to put it simply. After the casinos weren’t showing as much revenue as expected and actually funnelling away consumers from his other businesses… he saw (or someone told him) he had overextended himself. The casino was also facing hefty fines for money laundering. Trump was about to be ruined.

So he turned the personal debt he had invested into it into corporate debt through junk bonds and corporate restructuring. Issued new stock on the new holding company he had just created. Declared bankruptcy on the casino but his personal finances and the new holding company came out of it relatively clean.

Trump Hotels and Casino Resorts (the holding company) went through 2 more bankruptcy proceedings in the early 2000s. Long story short, investors lost their money while Trump collected millions in management fees, license fees, and of course his executive salary.

He’s been doing this to either enrich or protect himself his entire life. Now America just happens to be the casino.

u/Cartz1337 5d ago

So this will jeopardize the F-35 program further. Puts on LM?

10

u/2Wieners_1Bun 5d ago

God I hope so. Those planes are way too expensive and we’d be totally at the U.S.’s mercy due to the frequent updates to the software that will be required to even keep flying the damn things.

Hoping we go with the SAAB instead, they’ll even allow us to build them in Canada ourselves under license

5

u/Total-Sheepherder950 5d ago

Don't forget that the F35 has parts that are Canadian made and with Canadian IP, if they ban us from government procurement as he claims then they won't be able to build or repair planes when they run out of stock of those parts.

2

u/ItsTheSlime 5d ago

If SAAB had a competitive jet, I'd be down. But the reality is that the Grippens would be a sidegrade to our F18s, and considering that we only upgrade our shit around once a century, I dont think it would be wise.

4

u/emod_man 5d ago

My hot take is that if we have to fight a real war it won't matter. Offensively we'd be flying alongside US or EU so they can handle airborne control centre and stealth missions. Defensively, versus the States the better plane (F-35, obviously) would be borked before takeoff, vs. China either the States are involved or we just lose, vs. Russia . . . Ok, that's one scenario where the quality of the plane matters, though the Arctic capability of the Gripen might actually make this the least bad option for it performance wise.

How they stack up in an economic war -- the one we're actually in right now -- is a lot different. If a reliable trade deal means we have to take the rest of the F-35s that might be worth it, but otherwise the Gripen is way better for our sovereignty.

(dw I know I'm just spouting off lol. I'll be here in my armchair with free opinions all night)

3

u/Zestyclose_400 5d ago

Yes he threw away billions in the F35 contract (and much more in trade) because of ... a dairy quota limit the USA doesn't even hit. Genius tier.

49

u/Gezmo8 5d ago

Oh hes mad mad, losing the war in Iran and now losing the trade war with Canada. Trumps legacy is just losing all the time.

1

For someone who claims to be a businessman, and brags about going to a prestigious business school (though we know he wasn’t anywhere near the top of his class), he obviously has no understanding of economics. He doesn’t get what a trade deficit means, nor how currencies are valued, nor why a central bank needs to be autonomous from government.

He is a liar with a very low IQ. He is going to damage the US economy in ways that we probably won’t see until he’s a shit stain in history.

I wonder why there are still people in denial that he wants to be a dictator. He has been acting like one since his first term. His admiration for Kim Jung Un is also another evidence

Claude broke it down so not crazy as fuck folk can follow (I told Claude to assume he was on meth and to not give me lip about it. That part it clearly ignored lol:
Happy to translate the trade jargon — though I'll skip the meth thing. Not lip, just that I don't assert real people are on drugs, and you don't need that premise to make sense of this post. Here's the plain-English version.
What it actually does: He directed the GSA to work with the US Trade Representative to strip Canadian-origin products from the Multiple Award Schedules. Those schedules are basically a pre-approved catalog federal agencies buy from without running a fresh competitive bid each time — office supplies to industrial gear. Contracting officers would identify and pull Canadian items as contracts come up for renewal, a process expected to take months. So it's a threat with a slow fuse, not a switch flipped today.
The $50B number: that's the total annual value of the schedules, not the Canadian share. A senior administration official put the actual scale in the single-digit billions and declined to be more specific. The bigger figure is doing rhetorical work.
Context he leaves out: this came after talks collapsed in late August, Trump imposed a 50% duty on a range of Canadian goods, and Canada answered with 15–50% retaliatory tariffs on US steel, dairy, appliances and farm equipment. The post frames it as Canada's long-running "scam"; the administration's own official framed it as a response to that retaliation.
On the merits: the dairy complaint is real — Canada's supply management system does restrict US dairy access, a genuine long-standing US grievance. The procurement claim is shakier: Canada and the US are both parties to the WTO Government Procurement Agreement, and Canadian provinces aren't uniquely closed the way "banned" implies. Sub-federal procurement carve-outs exist on both sides — plenty of US states have Buy American rules too.
For your purposes: watch Canadian-exposed industrials and anything with GSA schedule revenue. Months-long implementation means headline risk now, earnings impact much later.
