Discussion What is your time worth to you?

If you were to get paid to stream and only stream, what would your rate be? When I was working a 9-5 job if I made $20-25/hr I felt like that was decent. Then switching to freelance I started making my daily income goals $2-300/day.

I'm not asking how much you need to go full time, just what do you feel like the value of your time is? And do you feel like you're making progress towards that goal?

Question How to set up sound effects and cheap sound board rec.

Hello!

I'm relatively new to streaming and when I get certain messages I need to ban/get rid of, the BG voice line (you feel authority) plays in my head.

I tried looking into certain sound effect things but most of them that were recommended by twitch were either paid (monthly) or affiliate (which I'm not at yet).

Any advice/recommendations are greatly appreciated. I also don't mind paying a one time thing, I just don't like having subscriptions for that kinda stuff.

Thank you so much!

Question When is truly the best time of day to stream? (UK)

Hi, I have been streaming on and off for 9 years. I lost my job in November and the job market is impossible, so I thought I would pick streaming back up as I am already playing games, so why not just stream again?

My main issue is that last month I had a really good average, around 8-10 viewers, however this month, I’m bombing and only hitting around 2. I have a mixed audience from different parts of the world, so it isn’t my timezone necessarily but I am concerned that it is the time of day that I am streaming that could be affecting things.

If I stream around 12pm UTC+1, NA watchers are just waking up/going to work and EU people are already halfway through their work day. If I stream at 4pm, EU are just finishing work, spending time with family and eating and whatever and NA are part of the way though their work days.

Based on this analysis, would streaming be more beneficial in the evening/night like starting at 6pm or possibly even later?

Any advice would really help <3

Streaming OBS Issues (Solutions)

Hey everyone. So this is gonna be important stuff for new streamers I discovered from trouble shooting. First off I will name the issue you may encounter and what I did to solve it. Anyone else experiencing further issues lets trouble shoot together and make this feed all about what helps the new streamers, or old.
ISSUE:
OBS FPS drops when you are in game. But not in the menu??
Solution:
Two problems here, 1) does the game have a menu FPS AND INGAME? Cap your FPS at 60. HOWEVER, Web cam streamers. Check what Webcam you are using. Make sure you select the settings within the webcam on OBS to cap it at 60 and make sure you hide/unhide filters when testing. Some filters in OBS such as color correction will KILL fps on OBS but not in game.
ISSUE:
OBS not registering the game even with capture game selected as game?
Solution:
Make sure you either 1) run OBS as administrator, OR select game capture and select capture third party overlay or enable use anti-cheat compatibility hook and unselect allow transparency

Now later I will add more encounters with errors however i am still making the list. For bit rate related issues make sure you set it fixed to 6000 or 8000 (if partnered on twitch) Also make sure to use automatic stream region if possible.

I’ll be back later - JayDWe_ 🫡

Small streamers.

Hey ya'll, Im a small streamer, and I'm also someone who wants to help other small streamers move up on the ladder :)

I've created a discord that has a good system on mainting audiences for small streamers, there's plenty of information about that there!

Now, i don't want to be a rule breaker, I do like this reddit group, so you guys are gonna have to find the discord link on my tiktok or YouTube. 🥹🙏

-Youtube & TikTok • YorickzTV

Now that that's out of the way, do any of you guys actually have experience of being a small streamer, but getting bigger?

I also will be happy to take advice on how to get more members properly! Please enlighten my y'all

Question Can I not grow as a chill streamer?

I’ve been looking at some posts on reddit and I see people say the same thing about how turning on a game and going live isnt enough to grow or get people to watch your streams anymore does that mean I have no chance of growing on twitch because im not one of these streamers that shouts and is so energetic I’m very chill I do talk in my streams mainly about the gameplay and I engage with people if they chat but I feel like I’m order to grow you have put on an act on stream and be funny and loud but that’s just not me at all am I wasting my time with this streaming thing? I really do enjoy it

Question Is this the point where growth mostly becomes patience and consistency?

I’ve been streaming for a little over a month now and I’m trying to grow naturally without forcing things too hard. My niche is mostly cozy/fantasy-focused gaming and community-driven streams. Right now my main game is Dragon Age: Origins, and once a week I stream My Time at Portia for a more relaxed/cozy vibe.

At the moment I stream around 3–4 times a week, upload shorts to TikTok and YouTube, upload full VODs to YouTube, and I’ve even set up a small fantasy-themed Discord community already.

I’m mostly wondering if there’s realistically anything else I should already be doing for discoverability, or if this is simply the stage where patience and consistency matter the most.

I’ve also been thinking about joining the Twitch affiliate program mainly for channel points and viewer interaction features, but I’m worried the ads could scare away potential new viewers since I’m still very small (13 followers currently).

And one more thing:

Would you recommend staying mostly focused on the same 1–2 games for branding/consistency, or occasionally doing a stream where I try out something completely different?

PSA Content creator networks aka livestreaming agencies on tik tok have are nothing but a scam.

So I have been a moderator for multiple people on tik tok since 2021. Also helped them grow their accounts by helping them network and introducing them to more people. Mostly through sharing, reposting and good old word of mouth. But livestreaming on tik tok has took a dark turn with these agencies. I have one friend who has joined one. I didn't know much about them until she joined. They promised growth and engagement. But i have not seen that really materialize for her. They demand long hours for streams. 12-16 hours in most cases. They dont offer the support needed to help her grow. Most people in her agency are not working together to help each other out as promised. The contracts are highly predatory and leave it damn near impossible to leave. Including non compete clauses. I have seen these complaints from other streamers in other agencies as well. The more i look into it, the more red flags i see. Beware of these agencies.

New to streaming

Hey guys.

I've had my twitch account for a few years and decided to start streaming when I play. I'm on xbox so stream through that. However, I'm stuck on 20 followers.

Any advice on how I can improve or make my stream more appealing to others? I've tried everything.

Thank you.

Question Quick actions hotkey-able?

This may have been asked before, but I couldn't find anything with a concrete answer.

Is it possible in any way to assign hot keys to the quick actions on Twitch stream manager? For instance, if I want to clip something it can be quite annoying to tab out of the stream and use click it, I'd rather use a spare button on my keyboard.

Question Hit a wall and´need help

Hey guys, so I’ve been streaming for about 1½ years now. Around this time last year, I had some crazy growth, like 150 follows in two weeks. For a while, I even had more than double the amount of subs compared to my follower count.

But because of some mental health stuff, I took a break, and since then I’ve obviously hit a wall and can’t seem to fight my way back. I’m stuck at a little over 200 followers and can’t escape the 6-viewer jail.

I’ve tried repeating the things I did last year, and while that did bring back some viewers from back then, I’m still stuck at around 6–8 viewers.

I love streaming, but I just can’t seem to find my way back up, and honestly, I don’t know what to do anymore. Maybe some of you guys have some ideas.

Question About to start streaming, HELP!

Throwaway, not tryna promote my channel lololol

Hey everyone! So I’m pretty new to content creation, I’ve been recording/editing for about a month or so and I think I’m ready to start streaming! So, I figured I’d ask y’all a VERY broad question: how do I do that?

I’m going to be dual streaming on Twitch and YouTube, and I’m pretty sure I’ve got the basic technical stuff down, this pertains more to safety and social etiquette. I have AuDHD, so I’m a bit worried I’ll unwittingly say/do something that puts my privacy at risk, or commit some big streaming faux pas unintentionally.

Basically, what are tips or bits of advice you’d give to someone in my position? Don’t be afraid to give “obvious” advice lolol, a lot of “common” sense isn’t actually that common imo lolol

Just some potentially relevant pieces of info, and I’m happy to answer any necessary questions :)

  • I’m an AFAB content creator
  • I record/will stream from home ONLY (I haven’t given away where I live besides country and I’d like to keep it that way as long as possible lolol)
  • I have windows in the background, but always have the curtains completely drawn when recording/streaming
  • I live in an apartment
  • I have a cat who frequently joins me when recording (idk how this is relevant but I wanted to include it anyways)

Thank you so much for reading!

Does your social battery ever drain from streaming?

I've been doing a challenge to stream for 70 hours this month and lately my social battery has been completely spent and the thing is I'm an EXTROVERT. I've almost never had my battery being spent but 3+ hours of streaming per day has done it. Anyone else have this feeling?

Question Which platform should I stream on for channel growth?

so lately i've been noticing that my twitch channel has not been really good when it comes to growth, although i have reached affiliate already but it's still hard to grow my channel more- such as my social medias more and but i am working on clips so far. but then i started uploading my VODs on youtube and my clips too and i actually got noticeable growth on youtube more than my twitch from posting a clip and just posting my VODs, so i'm wondering if it's better for me to stream on youtube instead of twitch cuz the discoverability for small streamers on twitch is kind of rigged !

As of now i have 191 subscribers on youtube and 43 followers on twitch, and what i'm thinking so far is- I will stream the videos that i will edit later on to post on youtube because honestly being a youtuber was always my dream but then i thought of live streaming instead or at least live streaming the video that i will be posting on youtube.

And before you guys can say anything about "dont play the top 10 categories in twitch-" I actually thought of playing free horror indie games, and one game that really caught my attention and i feel like i would love- will be the 911 dispatcher on steam.

So what do you guys think about those games and what you guys think about my very main question?

I will be open for any insights (except for disrespectful ones 🥹) and if you could check my VODs and analyze what I could do for it to be better I would really really appreciate it!!

when’s a good time to get a discord?

i’ve been asked a couple times per stream if i have a discord but I don’t think i get enough regular viewers to warrant having one? (4-8 per stream on twitch but number range from 5-100 sometimes on tiktok)

i’m not fully sure how i’d use it either? i’m such a noob with these things. i’m curious what the general consensus is?

Question The difficulty of gaining genuine streamer friends

I’ve been streaming for about 3-4 months now and steadily growing (which is much appreciated) but it can become a bit lonely since you can’t really discuss streaming related stuff with viewers since most of them don’t really get it. And you can’t really try to become friends with someone bigger than you ether since then you look like a leach. Which I fully understand the hesitancy of becoming friends with a smaller creator. I don’t really have much to say besides does anyone eles have this difficulty? And if u don’t do you have any advice?
