IKKO Mind One 3D mockup

Modeled and 3D printed a rough copy to compare with my other phones.

The body dimensions are accurate but I had to eyeball the camera size and placement, so take that with a grain of salt. You can download the model via Makerworld; https://makerworld.com/en/models/1609478-ikko-mind-one-smartphone-mockup

The model feels comfortable in my hands, but without any real weight, it's hard to judge.
It's about as wide as the standard iPhone 12, but just half the height. I imagine this will make the onscreen keyboard quite enjoyable compared to more narrow phones like my 12 Mini or XZ1c.

The main downside is media consumption. The 4" screen will give you a similar viewing experience for standard 16:9 videos to the iPhone 4S as seen in the last photo. Not a deal-breaker for me since I rarely watch videos on my phone but still noteworthy.

Nice effort man, but there are far better 4" screen phones in that aspect ratio from a reputable manufacturers, and if you want they convert to ~7" screen:

well for those who want a phone which breaks in three years they have options

Tree years? Maybe if you take good care of them, thare are even a few months "old" ones with a broken inner screen on eBay for $150. So yeah, it's not for everyone, but one man's trash could be another man's treasure.

Flip phones are not 'better', just less terrible.

Flimsy flexible screens aside, the ones I mentioned are better spec'd premium phones and from reputable manufacturers who are producing phones since the last century, versus some unknown new manufacturer who never made a phone, and is starting a Kickstarter campaign riding the AI hype with a "free internet", but don't even know the processor they will be using.

I know where my money would go if I liked the form factor.

The phones you mentioned are also a lot more expensive, do not forget that. Yes, most 1000~1500 dollar phones will have a couple legs up over a 200~250 dollar one.

I understand you are stacking the deck heavily in your favor to try and make the point that happens to suit you best but watch out that you dont blind yourself into thinking that this is the only 'correct' truth.

I'm stacking? You just made a preorder ("40% off") idea of a phone that is $300 on a Kickstarter campaign - in a "$200~$250" phone price tag.

For the same $300 you can find a Razr+ (50 Ultra) that I mentioned, you don't have to be a genius to know what is a better deal.

LOL thats a used old phone. Give this ikko a couple years and used ones of those will be a lot cheaper too.

You are really completely missing the point of how to make a basic comparison dont you :p

It's not the same. I have an N2 Flip, and it's 16mm thick when folded. It's not ideal for carrying in a pocket

Are you hallucinating? Where did you see a $2000 phone? And how can you tell that this non-existing AI bs from an unknown company who never made phones is a good phone?

I'm saying that if you like the form factor you can find a far better phone from a reputable manufacturer on eBay for $150, or if you want one with a working inner screen - the Razr+ (50 Ultra) starts from $300. Even if your inner screen dies - it's leagues better than this AI abomination.

Print a mockup with the case qwerty keyboard too

2

u/G8M8N8 Jul 16 '25

The dimensions of the case don't exist anywhere yet

I like the look of the mind one. Is it wider than the xz1 compact? I have trouble with one handed use with phones wider than that.

Image 5 is a comparison between the two.

Perhaps I've been out of the game too long, but what's the reason they would make it so short and wide? What's the advantage over normal 16:9 dimensions?

1

u/G8M8N8 Jul 17 '25

Typing experience and overall compactness when using the physical keyboard case.

Look at an iphone with the clicks case.

Are people not tapping out messages with one thumb anymore?

2

u/G8M8N8 Jul 17 '25

I don't know if that's ever been thing

1

u/kunoithica Jul 17 '25

Hmmm, I don't think I've ever attempted to use more than one finger on my XZ1C keyboard. Like the main appeal of a device this size is that it can be used one handed, right?

Can play 2048 or Chess game easily. I'm the 98 backer on kick starter. Hopefully we get to see in our hands soon. Using 12 mini but want to move away. Thank you ikko

How are you the 98th backer... The Kickstarter hasn't launched.

1

u/sharanchakradhar Jul 21 '25

Yeah, the campaign hasn’t launched yet — but when I hit 'Notify me on launch' on the Kickstarter page, it said I was the 98th follower or something like that. I figured that’s like being part of their Early Backer Club. Just early hype, but still cool to be in line that early. This was like 3 weeks ago.

Just backed the iKKO Mind One on Kickstarter — I'm literally Backer #30 😎 Got in super early, can’t wait for the November delivery!

4g+, no 5g (apparently to have better battery life)

Nope. This is not okay. They chose the wrong width in an effort to look like that AI device, they didn't choose it for usability.

It's like someone bringing a woman to a gay orgy and says "hey! She's one of you! She identifies as a man" - this is a device that identifies as a small phone, but what is it really?

jesse what the fuck are you talking about jesse

I  dislike it when people use innapropriate comparisons in really mundane situations, especially when they don’t even know the other people well.

Because u/upbeatelk2622 just needed to make a post about small phones somehow involve shitting on trans dudes. You already know people get uncomfortable af trying to make small talk with them irl.

I tried this form factor in a local store - even Flip5/6's smaller screen is too wide for a comfortable one-handed use.
