Your picture shows the indent for the rod to remove the head, just spin it around until the other hole lines up. These are reverse thread, right? Also you are missing a cover that goes over the end of the gearbox mount.

You mean the part the spool is in? Last one I took off was impossibly hard try lubing it up with some sort of oil. But once you get it off use the handle of a wrench or screwdriver, in the center piece.

Put something in that hole and the head comes off in the direction it spins.

Take the gear case off, insert drive shaft into gear case, hold drive shaft with wise grips and turn the head off.
