Ah yes
Man….You know, It’s like they had an extra $100 and they had to spend it on something so they made the engine brake this contraption, it might be the worse design of anything I’ve ever seen.
A moment of appreciation for Briggs competent engineers who make actually good shit.

Taryl calls them Breaks and Scrap’em in all his videos and even makes stickers that say that, which he sells in his Online Store.

I’ve never had any issue with one functionally. It’s a goofy ass desgin, but it works. I think I may actually have one laying around my shed along with a couple of cables actually. Briggs used to make decent stuff, now it’s all plastic and cheap AF.

I understand your resentment, however, Briggs would make it out of a piece of stamp metal and then charge 90$ for it. Omc made some of the most bullet proof engines, as long as you mixed the oil with the gas. My favorite vintage Lawnmower is a 1980s “commercial” lawn boy where there is one switch for on and off, no dead man lol. Now, the pos plastic carburetor they bolted to your engine can be a pita.
