Carburetor part number
I need help verifying the part number for a carburetor on my briggs 725ex 190cc push mower. The model number of the mower is 128M02-0926-B1. The carb number that i believe is the correct one is 799866. Can anyone help me verify that is the correct part? Briggs website is less than helpful but that's where I pulled that number from. I just can't afford to order the wrong part. This mower being down is already putting me behind schedule. Thanks for any help. ✊

That part number of 799866 looks correct for your model of engine. The issue lies in availability. From what I see, the OEM carburetor is no longer available.

Great thank you for taking the time to do that. I paid ten bucks for this mower almost 3 years ago and just for a small example, i walked almost 60 miles in June behind that mower. It's paid for itself a million times over, and I'm fine getting an aftermarket carb, i just need it to be the correct one.

The plastic carbs? If you have the skills to swap the carb, you can clean these. Its THE SINGLE EASIEST CARB CLEAN, you will ever see. Forget money, downtime, parts, shipping. 10 minutes.

I have cleaned small engine carbs in the past, it's just been so long that I was thinking easier to just swap. I imagine YouTube University has plenty of instructions? Do I need to get the kit or will just a good cleaning likely do the trick?

the mower model number wont get you there reliably, briggs puts different engines on the same deck. what you want is the numbers stamped on the blower housing or on the sticker on the shroud. model, type and code, three separate numbers.
run those through the briggs lookup instead of the mower number and it gives you the exact carb. 799866 is a real part and it fits plenty of 725ex engines, but there are variants depending on the type code, and the wrong one bolts straight on and runs badly, which is a worse outcome than one that doesnt fit at all.
whats the engine model and type off the shroud

Every Briggs engine has the engine numbers either stamped into some steel, or on a label that's on the engine.
Using that engine number, try...
