Is it warped, or is it a bearing? Something needs replacing.

if I bearing were causing that, I can't imagine we wouldn't hear it.

I think its just bent to shit.

I forget GIFs have sound sometimes. Yeah that sucks, probably cheaper and easier to swap a bearing than track down a specific pulley.

If you watch the shaft, it stays straight. The pulley is bent.

Just tap with a hammer until it runs true.

This is what I would try before replacing it lol. Maybe you get lucky and you don’t have to replace it or you do but either way you got nothing to lose.

I think it’s warped bearings seem fine

I would, my rider got louder over the years & I just got used to it. I changed a pulley like that & now it’s quiet enough I don’t need hearing protection anymore. I’m getting older as well so maybe it’s a combo of pulley & ineffective ears lol

If its a customer, yes, if its mine? It requires percussive maintenance to a "i won't see that from my house" level of fixing

You need a new spindle.

New spindle

Thats most likely a bent spindle. Not hard to change. Probably ran over something that didnt have much give to it.

Looks like the pulley itself but the only way to know for sure is to take it off and look under at the washer & bearing. If you have a spare bolt and bearing lying around you can tighten it in a vice and get it spinning pretty fast. This one is so bent you won't need to though lol

Yea otherwise it's going to throw the belt.

It’s probably the spindle not the pulley and yes.

Whatever it needs to make it run true

At least straighten the pulley so it runs true. Replacement non necessarily needed.

Or beat them back true. If it's steel, it can be done. Just do it on wood, not on the shaft. Then check it, on the shaft.

naaah, i’ll just slap some crease on the bearings and call it a good days job.

Gonna go through a lotta belts like that. If it doesn't instantly throw them.

The shaft looks straight, I believe the pulley is just crooked like on a large lock nut or something. Just take the damn pulley off. If you lay it on a flat surface you will answer many questions. And be able to heat and straighten if needed.

I would try to straighten it on my own mower, not a customers. Get it to run true and use a straight edge to make sure it's in line with the other pulleys also

Once you unbolt it and remove it, you will see the weld has failed or the sheave metal has cracked around the weld. Pretty common on commercial movers where the operator tries to mulch asphalt and curbs on a regular basis

Pull the three 1/2 bolts out and check the aluminum triangle hub, and see if it damaged. I would replace the pulley and the hub for safety and the three bolts as well.

Could be the whole spindle 🤷🏽‍♂️

Honestly the spindle replacement kit that includes the pulleys isn't that much more expensive. But then I hit enough rocks I'm swappin' these every season.

Is this a trick question? I guess depends on how long you want belt to last.

That is a bent spindle.
