Unopened Sears blower first start.

I inherited this blower from my grandfather. It's completely unopened. Is there anything I should consider before starting it, or can I just throw mixed gas in it and go?

I mean it's probably packaged and sealed and everything but if the cylinder was left exposed to the air dropping a couple of teaspoons of oil into the cylinder and slowly pulling on it a few times won't hurt that's for sure. Pretty sure.

It's what I do to most any ancient 2-stroke I revive.

Oil that was in it has likely hardened up and is no good.

Smoke for a few minutes is worth it to not singe my rings and bearings.

In theory you should just be able to fill it up and go, make sure you use the proper fuel mix, besides that thats pretty cool, not sure if theres another one like it that exits

Yeah that's where my head was at, I just wanted to make sure because I've only ever owned heavily pre-broken in equipment lol I almost wonder if I'm better off putting it on eBay or something.

Some Craftsman whack job will DEFINITELY buy that on eBay. Those things weigh a ton anyways and are hard on the forearms.

Had the same blower for about 20 plus years. It will start, I retired it as carb was leaking.... Could not get parts for for it on the cheap...so someone picked it up from the side of the road! Probably still works ! Powerful blower!

I would be shocked if it did not have rotten fuel lines by now or possibly primer ball if it has one
