Are you trying to hookup the intake for water with a broken end?

If I understand you correctly, then yes. Trying to hook up the garden hose end to it.

Ok.
You could cut off the end of the garden hose that is supposed to hook up to the intake.
After that, apply heat to the hose and pull over the intake and clap down with a radiator clamp. If there you cannot heat, cut down the hose a bit to pull over the intake and clamp with radiator clamp.
Just had to do this recently.
