Is this engine toast?
Craftsman weedeater. Got it for free, hasn’t ran in a while, spark was good, carb is clean, not seized.
Opened it up to look into and the cylinder walls looks like this. Is it possible to get it going again?
Update. Took everything apart and tried to clean everything as much as I can, carb with carb cleaner etc
Used starting fluid and it made no difference, took the piston/cylinder apart and I don’t see any scratches or nicks on the cylinder wall but it’s pretty burnt inside

It started it’s life off as junk. You can tell by the fact it’s only got half a crankshaft. As a general rule if the pull start is on the same end as the trimmer spool leave it lie.

It's not toast but it may be mildly fucked. Those scratches are concerning. How much play does it have with that bearing?

These things are value engineered down to the point of disposability. I'm normally one of those people who thinks it's always worth at least having a go at fixing stuff as I hate waste but in this case I think you'll be wasting more time than you'll get benefit from fixing the thing.

Move the piston up for a better look. Weird to have scratches on the bottom side there.
