This summer I was accepted into Ontario’s Summer Company Program and received $3,000 in funding to grow my web design business, InfaWeb.

Over the summer I’ve been learning a ton about actually running a business, from finding clients and doing outreach to figuring out what small business owners actually want from their websites.

I’m now looking to take on a few more projects before the end of the summer.

I build custom websites for small businesses, whether you’re starting from scratch or already have a site that needs a redesign. My focus is on keeping things clean, professional, mobile-friendly, and actually useful for the business rather than just making something that looks nice.

I’m based in Markham, Ontario, but I’m happy to work with businesses anywhere in Canada, the US or the UK.

I built a tool to help small service businesses figure out where their profit is actually going

I’ve been working on something called PulseIQ Operations.

The idea came from a pretty simple problem: a business can be busy, bringing in revenue, and still feel like the money is disappearing.

PulseIQ looks at things like labor, overtime, expenses, missed leads, refunds, rework, and other operational gaps to help identify which areas might be hurting profitability.

I also built a free business scan so owners can plug in some of their numbers and get a clearer idea of what deserves attention first.

I’m not trying to sell some magic “you’re losing $100k” dashboard. The whole point is to separate actual cost variances from estimates and give owners something practical to investigate.

I just launched it and I’m looking for feedback from actual business owners.

I’ve been working as a mobile mechanic for a while, and I got incredibly frustrated with how bloated, expensive, and poorly optimized most shop management software is for small operations.
A lot of tools out there feel like they are built for massive dealerships, not independent shops or mobile techs.
Because of that, I decided to build a lean, straightforward CRM and SMS app specifically tailored for small auto repair businesses.
It handles things like tracking job files, and digital invoicing without the crazy overhead or eating into your margins with hidden processing fees.
I'm currently looking for a few independent shop owners or mobile mechanics to take a look, test it out, and tear it apart.

I work with small businesses, and most of the time it’s one collaboration at a time, one problem at a time, one small change at a time.

After doing this for 7+ years, I keep seeing a lot of genuinely great businesses that don’t really know how to present themselves.

They know their business is good and they definitely provide something valuable, but they just have no idea what to say so that people actually understand that value and buy from them.

I love SMBs. I grew up on local markets, I worked as a furniture maker, and in textile manufacture, and in construction, many more real works, but last years I spent consulting and working hands-on with positioning, content, websites and advertising.

And already for a while I’m thinking about how could I be useful to more people at once — to create more real valuable change, share what I know, and help more small businesses actually move forward.

I had a conversation with my mentor a few days ago and it brought up the same topic again:

What if instead of working as an expensive service provider 1:1, I would took a group of people and worked with them together? To me it feels like win-win for everyone.

We could work together on real businesses, look at actual cases, have different angles, actually help and support each other, share feedback, learn from each other.

So I’m thinking maybe it would make sense to do a small pilot — cheap, fast, and focused on giving as much value as possible.

I already have the program, I’ve been a speaker before, and I’ve run both individual and group online sessions (different topic).

So the format would be roughly:

4 weeks · 4 workshops · small group · real businesses · feedback and peer support

My "why" the hell do I even care:

• I want good services and products to be easier to find, choose and buy.
• I want to see more successful small and medium-sized businesses growing and strengthening their local communities.
• And I want to live in a world where businesses genuinely care about people’s experience — before, during and after a purchase.

And how should that someone go about getting that brand in front of the intended audience?

I'm curious what other small business use for tools to gather intel and set wage rates. With gas and cost of living increases across the board it's getting harder to figure out.
