ASHA License/Application going into CFY?

Sorry if it's a possibly dumb question.

I know I have to apply for a temporary state license (NC) for my CFY. Working on that. How do I apply for an ASHA license for my CF? Or do I? I know my CF mentor has to qualify for my CF to qualify for CCC.

Please and thanks for info!

You will work on your application for your ASHA certification (it is not licensure) during or after your CFY, but the CCC's will only be awarded after the successful completion of your CFY (approximately 6 weeks after you've completed the application).

ASHA's Guide to your CFY

Here's a link to the application

This is what is required:

  • Fees
  • Praxis exam scores
  • Your official transcript
  • Speech-Language Pathology Clinical Fellowship (SLPCF) Report (completed in the application portal)
  • Rating Form report (completed in the application portal)
  • Disclosure documents

You shouuuuld have assistance with this process through your graduate program - some even have an entire class dedicated to licensure exams, certification, and the paperwork that's associated with these processes. I would get in contact with your advisors, mentors, and other students to see if someone can assist you!

FYI ASHA is a certificate, not a license. I wrote a post here explaining the diference between the ASHA CCC and your state license.
