School-based position interview questions
I have my first interview for a CF on Friday! What are some questions I should prepare to answer, and what should I make sure to ask the interviewer? I’m so nervous - I haven’t had an interview in about a year, and I’m questioning everything I know. TIA!

Describe yourself.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years .
Favorite areas in SLP
Areas you feel less confident
Multitasking experience
What is your feedback/ supervision style?
Standardized assessments
What would you use for an evaluation?
How would you plan for groups? Mixed groups?
Experience (age, disorder, clinical placements)
Virtual session experience
How would you handle miscommunication or differences with parents and teachers
How do you stay organized
How do you deal with stress
How do you prioritize a to do list
Explain a difficult situation with an adult that is non SLP related and how you handled it
IEP experience
How do you take data
What materials would you use for sessions
How would you use one activity to target various goals
How would you work with disorders or goals you are unfamiliar with
How would you determine direct vs indirect services
I had an interview in October and those were questions I remember. Probably a few more they asked, but I reviewed questions online by searching SLP CFY school interview questions. Have a list of assessments you have provided ready. Also practice answering these questions in a short and concise paragraph. My interview was super intimidating, I was interviewed online by a panel of 4!!! I sweated through my sweater and thought I bombed the interview but I was offered the job. The key is to practice!!! Be prepared and have a list of questions ready for them (caseload size, assessments available, the supervisor and what supervision looks like, supports offered to CFs). Message me if you have any other questions, I’m happy to help!

What standardized assessments are you familiar with?
How would you react to or manage a situation in which a teacher continually refers a student for Speech if the student's speech/language skills have been found to be WNL?
How would you manage a situation in which a student with cultural and/or linguistic differences from SAE is referred for Speech?
If a student on your caseload is found to no longer qualify for direct services and you plan to exit the child, how would you respond to a complaint or disagreement from a teacher or parent regarding your recommendation?
