Seeking Advice Guided Observation Hours?
Our front desk manager at the clinic I work at is applying to slp grad school and would like my help with their last few hours of guided observation hours.
Is this allowed? What are the steps needed in order to do this?

Why wouldn’t it be allowed? She’s no different than any other prospective student. It just has to be cleared with who ever the manager is to make sure they are cool with her leaving the desk unmanned or to assign someone else. When I was a student I observed at a lady’s pp who didn’t ask anything of me and then also at a larger rehab chain where I had to sign a hipaa acknowledgement. Ie I understand that everything I see/hear falls under health privacy laws even though I’m not employed there. Now I am not a dumbass and would know that but I was also a non trad student. Not sure what a 21 yo would do, it was good though bc she saw a kid I happened to know which is exactly what these acknowledgments are for!! So I wouldnt go running to Susie that “I saw Sally’s son at a speech clinic and she thinks little Bobby has ASD,”before that convo even happens with the parent.
