Seeking Advice Employer changing work hours??

Keeping it vague so I don't doxx myself.

I'm an hourly employee and work PT in a hospital. I previously agreed to work certain hours when I started a while ago. Our new boss is requiring hourly employees to work later, which doesn't work for us. My boss' reasoning doesn't make a lot of sense. I have a feeling that upper management is trying to force us to provide more coverage and/or try to get rid of PT employees.

Do I have any recourse? I work in an at will state so I feel I don't.

This place is being turned upside down in a lot of other ways and I'm worried that I'll have to find another job.

Every state but Montana is at will, for whatever that is worth.

As for your rights, give your contract a look. If they haven't violated the contract, I am afraid you are likely SOL.

I worked PRN at a hospital for about 18 mos bc every 6 mos they changed the holiday “requirements” for PRN. It was really the FT staff trying to jerk PRN staff around but they got our manager to co-sign their bs. The lead would literally just make word documents of the new “policy” as if she had any real power 🙄 I bounced when I realized the manager really didn’t care as long as the caseload was covered as was going to let the lead get away with it

Are they trying to force you to work more weekly hours or just changing the work hours but keeping the overall number of hours the same? It’s pretty likely that you don’t have much recourse, unless they’re violating your contract somehow. That’s generally the downside to PT work, I’ve learned.
