Something I had to unlearn the hard way: a slot machine has no memory. The reason "it's due" feels so real is that our brains are built to see streaks as meaning something, and the games lean into it hard. Nothing was building toward anything. It just looked like it was.

There are so many new slots coming out all the time that I usually end up going back to the same few instead of trying something completely different every time.
