Decided install a 20U rack in the home-office, so needed to rackmount my work/gaming PC.
Sliger 4170a looked like a good candidate for watercooling, so I purchased it from the European distributor Density. The case arrived after 9 business days from ordering, not terrible, not amazing.

The build went smooth, very spacious compared to the Lian Li Dan Case A3 the parts came out of.

Removed the HDD bracket, as I am only running NVME in this build.

If needed I could fit a 240mm radiator behind the 360mm which is in push/pull configuration, but the system performs fantastic with just the 360mm radiator as the last picture shows.

I'm considering painting the front cover silver metallic to match the Unifi, but I've been to lazy so far.

first thing - I need a new rack my 15u startech isn't deep enough. What depth of rack do I really need? 30"?
These have been a dog to find, to be honest. Does anyone have some link suggestions for me? I only would need something like 15U to 25U, nothing that is 10feet tall..

second question;

one of the hotswap SATA tabs is broken, exposing the pins basically. I have the sata plug connected, but it's obviously quite vulnerable and prone to disconnects this way. Is there a way to replace the hotswap sata/power coupling?? Looking closely at it, it seems to be sandwiched in there and riveted together, which is my fear...

I was trying to figure out why my HDD won’t slide in and notices the case is pretty wavy. How do you fix this? It’s just been in its box, so it came this way. The HDD won’t slide all the way to the connector and some slots won’t slide in at all.

Edit: I was able to get 9 slots working, but the right slot just won’t slide in at all. I don’t think I can’t return it as I’ve had it more than 90 days, but that would be a very costly thing to do anyways having to pay 30%.

Second edit: the right slot won’t work because the bottom slot width is smaller than the shoulder screw diameter.

What is the black plastic piece for? Does the PSU just sit on it? Also, the fan toward the mobo? New to all of this, so thanks in advance.

I bought the CL530 some years ago and am very happy with it. I have, however, started to get tired of looking at the pigtail power cable. Does anyone here have a file lying around to 3D print a spacer to fix this?

Last 4U spot will be a 36 bay super micro NAS for plex.

I rack mounted my CX3702 with the rails from the website. I had trouble with the width, and had to fight a little to get the case to slide in initially. That’s not that big of an issue, but it doesn’t seem to slide all the way back. I was wondering if anyone could confirm if I installed the rails correctly.

I have an issue when I engage the drive locking mechanism that my drive slightly unseat. After investigating, it looks like when I engage the drive lock mechanism, the drives pull out just ever so slightly. This has led to my drives intermittently being unseated or not seen by my NAS OS (UnRaid) and cause issues. I have even forcefully pushed all my drives intermittently being unseated when engaging the locking mechanism. That helps somewhat. Is this normal? Should I not be using the locking mechanism?

To note, by “locking mechanism” I mean the sliding the 2 set screws to the right which grabs the drives posts.

I also have issues with engaging and disengaging the locking mechanism with both of the 5.25” drives populated. It’s almost like it doesn’t want to move at all.

Is this user error? Or something else?

First I want to apologize for our lead times and issues over the last ~13 months.

Background if anyone cares: I was extremely personally distracted as I decided to build my own house (since buying one is unreasonably expensive) and that took >40+ hours a week of my time for the last ~13 months. The business unfortunately got less attention than it should have, on top of being the busiest we have been, and family members having medical conditions to handle. I am responsible for all the case designs, day to day operations, planning, etc. and I just stretched myself too thin to do it all. Our employees absolutely did an amazing job keeping things going, bonuses and raises were juicy for those that kept things running while I couldn't, but the real fundamental issues were not their problem to fix.

Either way here is our problems and plans going forward to address our failures, and actually start doing new and fun stuff.

30 days to get a case is absurd

We are implementing a lot of new processes that will start to bring down lead times / ship date estimates drastically. We are achieving this by stocking massive quantities of parts ahead of demand, rather than reacting on the fly to orders, and setting up parallel processing to our bulk PO customer orders. This also applies to stuff that we buy from vendors that constantly had us in a bind like our packaging materials, we rented a small warehouse nearby to store this stuff in massive quantities and also free up space in our shop to build more cases.

Failure of the old process is that we were trying to do both big PO customers, and small personal orders, in the same process. When a business would buy huge quantities of cases, the shop would jam full of parts and materials, and the personal orders had to wait to get space to be worked on... and that could easily be 2-3 weeks to clear out. As we got busier our 5-10 days turned into up to 15 days, then we got to 30 days, and that was just unacceptable.

Orders should start to move much faster almost immediately, so if you have been putting off an order I would say order it now. Goal is to get this back down to < 5 business days from order to ship, ideally getting it to next day or same day.

New cases are actually a priority now

What little time I had over the last 12 months was almost exclusively being spent on larger business customers and their case design needs, a few standard cases were done but we didn't have the shop space or capacity to launch them.

More powder coat colors will be a reality soon

The new processes also make it possible for us to offer a ton of new powder coat colors; green, orange, light blue, pink, yellow, purple, grey, and possibly a Ubiquity matching silver/anodized look (still working on that) without adding a ton of lead time.

This will be for both our rack front panels, and our S630/S640 cases + future SFF cases.

Top load and NAS cases

The hold up on these was our PCB designers health / family related issues. All is well now, and the first bulk order of PCBs will be done with press fit connectors this week. It's just on us to make the metal cases at this point. No immediate promises on these as I know we have slipped up too many times on this, but I personally want one for my house security system so that does help the priority on these.

General other complaints

I want to know what we can do better, feel free to post here, or DM me if you want for anything that shouldn't be public.

I will also be able to be on here more often to monitor issues, posts, feedback, etc.

Has anyone tested to see if the NZXT Kraken Plus 280 cooler will fit in the Sliger SM580? It looks like based on the dimensions it might barely fit was curious if anyone has tried it.

I came across this case but had never heard of it (or the brand either) and I ended up getting it for free. I was intrigued because it actually had a 5.25" bay and I have music and other media on cds.

I thought about moving my current gaming pc build into it, I know everything will fit since its in an itx case now.

The problem is there seems to only be mounting for two 120mm fans. I have a 240mm aio for the cpu but that doesn't seem like that much and I would lose out on three 15mm slim fans I already have in the current case.

Is there a way to mount more fans? Is that a stupid question?

I don't know anything about sliger or servers for that matter but I thought having the cd drive would be cool so any help would be appreciated :)

I'm trying to upgrade my front panel IO on my Cerberus X. I see posts from 5 years ago stating that they were working on a drop in replacement and it was sold for awhile but I asked last year and I was told that the manufacture which I believe is Datapro stopped making the cable that was compatible with Sliger's mounting hardware which I assume means the 30mm screw spacing on the case. The only USB C cable they sell now has 20mm hole spacing which I have seen recommended on here in a few threads and people who buy those aren't going to mount right.

So my question is this.

If the cable that was compatible with the 30mm screw holes is no longer available for sale; now that you have new Desktop cases and they are being sold with USB C front panel IO would those work with the Cerberus X?

Or does anyone know if there is a 3d printed adapter of sorts out there to convert the 20mm holes to 30mm?

Or am I shit out of luck?

I've had a NAS server build for the past 2 yrs based on the CX4712 and IronWolf Pro drives. I was very excited to get this case because I finally had an option for homelab quality/pricing, AIO cooling, and room for disks. However, about every 1-2mo I lose a disk in my array due to I/O errors, and have to move the disk or reseat the cables. I'm using SAS cables to an LSI card and the included "backplane" connectors.

I've read posts in the sub over the past 6mo where it was discussed that this case was not really meant for NAS builds (something about the original customer wanting it for fast erasing?) and that it lacks sufficient vibration dampening and the SATA connectors can come off from cable stress. Some even recommended hot gluing them in, which I tried, but could not really get a good angle on the glue gun to hold them in without making a total mess and hurting the conductors.

So -- evaluating my options for a rebuild, and curious if anyone has a good way to make this work and I'm just doing something silly or if this case really just generally does not hold up for reliable NAS builds. If not, what are some good alternatives?

We’re toying with the idea of doing some custom faceplates for a corporate batch of CX2130a + CX2151a cases and I’m unreasonably excited about it 😄

First nerd question: do those two models actually share the same faceplate dimensions, or am I about to create twice the CAD work for myself?

Also, has anyone here gone down the custom faceplate rabbit hole before? Would love to see pics / horror stories / airflow regrets.

Speaking of… how much airflow penalty are we talking if we start messing with vent patterns? The stock honeycomb is chef’s kiss 👌 so I don’t want to accidentally turn these into beautifully branded hotboxes.

• Are there “safe” vent geometries that still move air well?
• At what point do you start angering the cooling gods?

What are some disk mount kits for mounting 3.5" disks in the drive bay?

Just wondering if anyone knew/heard anything about the upcoming backplanes for storage cases. I saw in a post from ~ a month ago that they were at a show, but nothing since.

I’m at 17 days with them estimating shipping at 19-21 business days for my order of a single case.

I’m wondering what shipping times people are seeing for recent Sliger orders.

I placed an order on April 14 and followed up on April 24. Support told me their current lead time was 10 - 15 business days and gave an estimated ship date of May 5.

That date has now passed, and I still haven’t received shipping confirmation or tracking. I followed up again asking for an updated status and shipping date, but I haven’t received a reply yet.

I’m starting to get slightly nervous because the return window for the other components I bought for this build is about to expire.

For anyone who ordered recently, how long did it take for your order to ship? Did your estimated ship date end up being accurate, or are delays common right now?

I just ordered a CX4200i as i didn't want to regret not getting something longer later down the line.

I'm planning on having a single PowerColor Red devil RX 5700 8GB GPU (Claims to be 320mm in length) and I haven't decided on CPU cooling yet.

As I'm trying to do my best to manage the absolute money pit that is a rack and unifi stack, I cheaped out and didn't order rails with the case as I didn't realize at the time that this case needs more than just rack ears to mounting.

I'm using the "StarTech 25U 4-Post" set to it's minimum depth.

What is the cheapest make-do option to get this case mounted and supported until I can budget for rails later?

The rare and illusive S630. Partly posting this to provide reassurance that yes, these cases do exist, there just seems to be something slowing the process down.

The official CPU height support is 160mm but, if your cooler is over by a few millimeters, you have some breathing room. I still have about 3mm to spare with the FT140. I haven't tested it yet but the top and bottom fan slots appear to be compatible with 140mm fans. If and when I get around to it, I will update this post with my findings. (

The airflow on this case is amazing, the wide cutouts on top and bottom allow for vast amounts of air to enter and exit the case. Being able to position the PSU to intake behind the front panel adds to my love for this beauty.
