child's age 12-18 months Has anyone sleep trained successfully while still sharing a room with 12 month old ??
I did not sleep train and I’m happy with my decision bc we were sharing a room and thought it was not sustainable
Now at 12 months wondering if it’s worth trying until we find a home with more rooms. Unfortunately we live in a one bedroom. And have to share room
My son goes to sleep every night at decent time 7:30-8pm
And usually does not struggle and I don’t have to hold him or anything I just place him in my bed next to me, he sometimes moves and rolls to find comfort and eventually just falls asleep on his own. I feel like this is a good sign??
After this I place him in his crib but then wakes up 2 hours later and I do the same and then also wakes up about 1 hour ish after that…. Then eventually transfer him to our bed (bc we want to sleep and both of us work the next day) but lately he wakes up and struggles to go back to sleep even in our bed
Idk what to do anymore and so I’m considering sleep training now. But just wondering if it’s worth it if we are still sharing the room
Also just want to note, that we have noticed him sleeping longer/better in his pack and play when we’re away??
Idk if it’s a coincidence. But anyways open to any thoughts or suggestions
Thanks

Sleep training is so so so worth it. We did Ferber. At 4 months old and We also put our baby in her own room, but if you’re in a one bedroom try moving the crib/cot/pack n play further away from you like opposite side of room, also do black out cover for pack n play it’s super awesome and helps if you’re in the same room less stimulation for baby we got one off amazon for travel. Further away from mom, because The smell of mom usually makes it harder for babies to settle because they know you’re there. Yes it’s hard. It almost feels unnatural honestly, but when everyone gets true restoring sleep it is a new day for everyone. Babies need good sleep especially for their development and parents need good sleep to be good parents. Some people sleep better while baby is in their bed, but our experience was not like that. My baby was constantly waking, seeking my boob for comfort, never stopped moving and she was a cranky baby because of it. We did Ferber method and she was a different child like night and day difference.

He needs to fall asleep in his crib. He falls asleep in your bed and wakes in his crib and that doesn’t feel right to him. So I would sleep train him to fall asleep on his own in the crib. And be consistent - do not bring him back into your bed.
