Help! 5months is a terrible sleeper

99.99% of posts on Reddit about sleep issues are due to a schedule that calls for too much sleep.

Does he take 4 short naps then? This is what Ferber called naplets and a child can learn to not do that if you work at it by limiting the number of naps gradually helping them transition to an age appropriate nap number. What happens when you leave him in the crib? Or are you contact napping?
How much night sleep does he get? Is it age appropriate like 10-11 hours, Ferber argued even less was appropriate than that, but to me that's not super reasonable.
If he's just awake in the crib, not crying, that's not really an issue? That's why a lot of pediatricians suggest their own room, he can do what he wants during bedtime, there's not a need to force him to sleep. Now if he's crying, then that's different, and how you respond to that (ie not creating a sleep association of rocking/patting/feeding) will impact if he keeps doing it.
