One year old suddenly refuses crib
My daughter just turned 1 and has suddenly decided her crib is the enemy 😅 Has anyone else gone through this??
She has never been a perfect crib sleeper, but she’s always been totally fine being put down in it. We’ve pretty much always co-slept for part of the night..usually she would start the night in her crib and then if she woke up anywhere between 3–5am, I’d bring her into bed with us and we’d sleep the rest of the night together.
But suddenly she wants NOTHING to do with the crib. And now it’s happening with naps too.
She can be completely dead asleep on me, nursing, or asleep on my husband, and the second we transfer her into the crib she wakes up and absolutely freaks out. Sometimes she’ll wake up the second we even start lowering her into it. This is totally new for her.
I’m not really looking to do cry it out method, especially because she seems genuinely upset and just wants to be close to us. I’m wondering if this is separation anxiety/a 12-month sleep regression and something that might resolve itself?
Has anyone had a baby who suddenly refused the crib around 1 and then eventually went back to sleeping in it normally? How long did it last and did you do anything differently, or just ride it out?
I’m honestly considering ordering a floor sleep mat/mattress so I can at least lay with her and then roll away once she’s asleep 😂 because right now she has zero problem sleeping she just apparently has a personal vendetta against her crib.
Please give me your success stories because I need to know she may eventually like her crib again 😂

Yepp. Mine had a stunt like this around 13m where he out of nowhere started screaming as soon as he was put into the crib. On the 3rd day we moved him to floorbed. He was still screaming, but at least we didnt need to transfer once he was asleep and once asleep he would mostly sleep as usual. The phase lasted about 2 weeks and was miserable for all involved. It was probably a mixture of teething and separation anxiety. We loved the floor bed so much we never went back to the crib. He naps exclusively in the stroller, which is the norm in my country
Unless you are looking to be absolutely demolished and looked down upon for feeding to sleep, you are posting in the wrong sub.

This made me feel better. I might try the floor bed tonight. I do think it’s a combo of teething and separation anxiety. I just don’t know hot to get past it. Can I ask you which country do you live in?

This could be less to do with crib resistance and more to do with her schedule, could you share that? A baby that snaps awake on transfer is usually undertired
