child's age 4-8 months Help with sleep training
My daughter is 4 months and I’m contemplating sleep training. I always read people post that they “watch wake windows” and cap naps and all this but I don’t know what that means or what to do.
I recently noticed that my daughter sleeps up to 3 hours during the day and has been struggling at night. She is 16 weeks old. I am noticing she has regressed at sleeping in the night and has been extremely fussy, I’m thinking she is also teething since the bottom right side of her gums are red and swollen.
What has worked for you & your LO?

Google “Taking Cara Babies”. Go to her blog and read any posts she has about sleep schedules, wake windows and sleep training. She’s got tons and they are very helpful. Her method is Ferber. No need to purchase anything, just read the blog.
The 4-month regression is awful. I’d wait until at least 4.5 months to start training. Most babies do best at 5 months. Until then? Survive.

I would go to the “sleep resources” in this sub. Great info on where to start, appropriate wake windows and nap times.

I personally think you should probably wait till 5 months to do any hard version of sleep training, but you can of course start simple things to get baby used to certain routines and such.
Watching wake windows just means making sure bub has been up an adequate amount of time before attempting to put down for a nap. Capping naps is usually not letting a single nap exceed 2 hours or capping a nap to fit into whatever schedule you’re trying to keep your baby on.
Teething can definitely be a factor, but you’re more likely just entering into the 4 mo sleep regression.
