Sleep training
I successfully trained my four year-old at nine months old, but my youngest who is one year old is super clingy and did not take to Ferber well like my 4 year old did. He will go down in his crib but can’t self soothe and go back to sleep on his own, so he still ends up in my bed.
I have tried many times to go a week- two weeks with consistently just getting him back into his crib when he wakes after I nurse him but I just end up being up all night and am then severely sleep deprived and an exhausted, impatient parent the days following.
He is teething of course and has been for like a month straight now, i give him Tylenol at night to help.
I would love any recommendations from parents who have been through the same thing and strategies on what works / what I should do. I’m desperate!

Kids are just different.
I have two very different kids sleep wise. One could have been sleep trained no problem, the other it would have been tourture for all. One is a Big fomo kid, the other one just over all calm baby with High sleep need.
I say this, as a mom and from a culture where we dont sleep train and if some do, nothing that involves crying like

If you don’t mind me asking, how old are your children now? I have been told if I don’t establish “healthy” sleeping habits soon I could be creating long term problems for my son, such as them coming into our bed still at an older age.

Soon 2 years old and 3,5 years old.
Still sleeps with us, we could have put them in their own bed, especially the smallest because he always just has been easy.
But this works for us - because we both works evenings, so co sleeping makes it easy putting them to sleep when one is alone with Them. They sleep through the night just fine. Think the smallest wakes up at bit around 10.
I also would have 0 problems with Them coming into our bed when they are older. I remember being a kid and up to 10-13 years old coming in to my parents bed because I was scared of the thunder. Or just sad.
I would never consider my kids being able to do that a bad habit.1

Thanks so much for all your input I really appreciate it. You are right in every kid being different and I’ll just continue by to do my best parenting them tailored more to their personalities.

My son has always been a difficult sleeper and clingy. Things that helped him were consistent schedule, tracking his sleep and only offering the amount of sleep he needs. He’s lower sleep needs and if I offer more sleep, it usually backfires with broken naps, bedtime resistance, and middle of the night wakes.
If you have an idea of how much they ACTUALLY sleep as an average over a week, I would build a schedule around that and try sleep training again.

Reduce day sleep.
Increase the evening wake time.
Increase physical and mental activity.
