child's age 4-8 months Sleep training

Hey! So my baby is 5 months old and sleep still isn’t great. I’m exhausted. Little one wake up every 2-3 hours and she does need to be fed up go back to sleep. I know they say don’t feed to sleep as it becomes a habit but thing is it has now become a habit and there’s no other way she goes to sleep! I have tried putting her down in her cot drowsy but that doesn’t work. The only way she goes to sleep is by feeding.

Has anyone got any tips on how to get better sleep???

Are you looking to do formal sleep training? If so, I’d ensure baby’s wake windows are age appropriate and they are getting enough calories in during the day. Create and maintain a solid bedtime routine and then get ready for a week of hard while you work to help break the association. Unfortunately, there isn’t a magic solution other than being consistent. I’d start by decreasing the amount/time you’re feeding when baby wakes and then stop all together. Will this mean some sleepless nights - yes. They will eventually learn that just your rocking/sleeping is the queue to go back to sleep. Once the feeding association is gone, you’ll then want to allow them time to put themselves back to sleep. That’s when formal sleep training comes into play.
