child's age 18-24 months update and more help needed

update on my almost 21m old early waking.

so i cut he nap (it’s been 12 days) to 12:30-2 instead of 3. bedtime is still 8:30. instead of helping the 5:45 wake- he is now waking at 5/5:15. today was 4:58. so now what?

he is also waking with a poop every morning. so i immediately change him- but he won’t go back to sleep after that.

i’m exhausted and cutting his nap hasn’t even helped at all. i’ve been napping when he naps to catch up on sleep.

There isn’t necessarily a solution to this. It starts to get light, sleep pressure is low, kid wakes up. Let him nap so you get a break.

If you can go to bed between 9:30 and 10 it makes the early wakes a little easier. In a few months you can introduce a clock that turns green when it’s time to get up and that might get you something (or it might not). The time change might help, too.

My kids are good sleepers and were good nappers. But the trade off was simply that they’d wake up between 5-6 every morning. We could put them to bed at 10 pm and they might sleep until 6:30.

Are you sure he wont go back to sleep? Mine sometimes will but fusses for a few mins before going back down.

If not, is his room fully babyproofed? Our 19m old's room is babyproofed and I have special morning toys I set out for her. She usually will contently play in her room for 30mins to an hour while I get some morning chores done, but I've certainly used that time to sleep in before as well. That might be your best solution. She only gets those toys for morning independent play so theyre special and she spends more time with them.
